Fierce Bingo Closes After Just Six Months

Not every new site manages to make their way in to Loquax's bingo directory. We could, as some portals do, feature every site that ever exists but in some cases they don't want partners, or the site is too samey to those we already have or we just don't get round to getting them in situ.
Fierce Bingo falls into the latter two categories - but sadly it's not going to make it on to the site at all as no sooner has it launched than it's going to close. Six months ago the site became the umpteenth member of the Dragonfish Network but whilst it didn't offer anything new in terms of bingo play - it did raise a few eyebrows.
The reason for the eyebrows was because Fierce marketed itself as an" online bingo site created exclusively for gay and lesbian players". Questions were asked, particularly by some bingo portals, whether this was necessary as in a bingo room no one cares about sexuality - it just doesn't come in to play. More importantly, because the site was networked there was no way it had exclusive rooms just for gay players.
In reality, if a Fierce player signed up they'd have found themselves not amongst fellow Fierce players - but in an eclectic mix of ages, backgrounds and what have you. In short it's raison d'etre was totally flawed and it's taglines misleading. Even so it does seem odd that the site is closing it's doors after just six months.
According to it's front page, Fierce Bingo will cease operating as of October 15th. If you are a player on site then you will need to either cash out (minimum of £20) or play through the money in your account. If you have any questions then you can contact them via the email address on the site.
Our best guest for the short shelf life of Fierce is that it didn't reach out to players. Bingo is for everyone and in a tough market it's madness to limit your target market. Sexual orientation just doesn't matter when you play online games - there's probably even a penis beaker user on a site somewhere - so Fierce did themselves no favours by looking for a solution to a problem that didn't exist.
It seems strangely ironic that with this closure that the only ones who are out are Fierce Bingo.
