Mini Bingo 80 Arrives At Sky Bingo
Published On 8th November 2023
Way back in June 2020 Sun Bingo launched a new 80 ball game called The Bingo Ball. This was an unusual little game because it didn't feature in the brand's lobby. Instead players could only locate it inside the mini games section, the section that usually features slots and runs alongside the bingo tickets and chat room. Presumably the idea was to encourage players to wager more by offering an alternative to the slots and instants. We guess that players didn't take to this 80 ball game because The Bingo Ball was rapidly dropped from the roster. Fast forward to November 2023 and the mini 80 ball bingo game is having a revival. This time it's at Sky Bingo who will be hoping for better success.
Where To Find Sky Bingo 80
As with The Sun's Bingo Ball, Sky Bingo 80 will be available in the mini games section in the bingo rooms. This means that whilst you enjoy games like Clover Rollover Bingo, Sky 75 or Potion Shop you can also play Sky Bingo 80. Simply choose "Mini Bingo" from the tabs and then open the room. From there you can purchase tickets like any other bingo game. The room is open from 10am to 1am daily, tickets cost from 5p each and it's a maximum of 8 tickets per player. In addition there's a minimum total prize money per game of £5. As a way to encourage players to check out this new Mini 80 Ball feature Sky Bingo are also offering a daily free game. It takes place at 8.01pm daily but so far this scheduled for November 2023 only. It wouldn't be a surprise to see the free game continue beyond this though as it's a good way to get players to find things.
Will It Be Successful?
The problem The Bingo Ball at Sun Bingo was that the room was only accessible via the mini games section. This meant that if you didn't use that section then you may never have noticed it existed. It's a bit like Loquax Bingo. If you hide good things away and no one knows about them then they never get found! Anyway another issue is that Bingo 80 isn't the most attractive of variations. UK players love 90 ball games and the everything else is a much of a muchness. That issue isn't something Sky will have much control over although the incentive of free games will help. However they can - and have - dealt with the issue of accessibility. Unlike The Sun, Sky Bingo have included Sky Bingo 80 as a room link within their lobby so there's more chance of players knowing it actually exists. You can play the game, which is also exclusive, via the lobby room or via the mini games tab so hopefully that helps build up interest.
Sky Bingo 80 Review
We've decided not to include a review of the Sky Bingo 80 game because it's simply an 80 ball game. The only real feature of interest is the fact that Sky have decided to include it as a mini game. We have to wonder whether this feature is really necessary because most platforms these days allow you to play in more than one room at any one time. You can simply toggle backwards and forwards. With pre-buy you can also be in games whilst not even being online. Trying to watch two games at the same time also seems quite tiring. There's just numbers popping up here, there and everywhere. In essence it's just designed to encourage extra wagering which isn't necessarily a good thing. If we had 40p (8x5p) extra to play per round then we may use that on extra tickets for the game we're in or perhaps a few slot spins via the mini games tab. We also think that the extra bingo game actually distracts from things like chat as well. Overall it's interesting to see the mini 80 game back on the Virtue Fusion platform. But will it stay and will other brands add their own versions? We're not so sure.
