MrQ Adds New Picture Bingo Rooms

At the moment it does feel that the only thing to do with respect to online bingo is lament about closed sites, closed bingo rooms and the lack of big prize promos. However it's not all bad news! Back in 2018 MrQ launched to shake up the online bingo and slots sector. They created their own proprietary software and introduced some interesting variations on the bingo theme with the likes of Rock N Rollover. As slots on the platform flourished bingo went southwards and led us to speculate that perhaps MrQ would look towards a plug-in option such as the bingo product from Pragmatic Play. However reports of the demise of bingo at MrQ may be premature as they have added two new rooms - Tropic Like It's Hot and Buzzin' Bingo.
Picture Bingo
The new bingo rooms have one thing in common and that's they're both 30 ball picture bingo games. This means that instead of numbers they use pictures, much like the games you'll find at Tombola. In Tropic Like It's Hot the images are related to holidays and include icons such as palm trees, crabs, ice creams, lollies, passports, bucket & spade, and cocktails. Meanwhile in Buzzin' Bingo MrQ are using their sponsorship of Watford FC to full effect by using football images combined with those from the Wild Swarm slot. Each bingo card in these room comprises of nine pictures on a 3x3 ticket. The aim of the game is simply to complete a full house before any of your fellow roomies. Tickets cost just 10p each but note that the rooms are only open between 8pm and 9pm daily. In addition you can only access the Buzzin' Bingo room provided you've deposited at MrQ in the last 30 days. Both games pay in cash!
Different Themes?
The addition of 30 ball picture bingo to MrQ could mean that we will see different variants on a theme. For example Tropic Like It's Hot is described as a "sizzling summer themed picture bingo game". Now come Winter we'd be more than happy to continue playing a game that features holiday images but we wonder whether MrQ may instead switch to a Winter theme or something festive once we hit December? The format of the game is relatively simple so it would simply be a matter of updating the "numbers" to things like snowflakes, reindeers and woolly hats. We've seen this kind of thing before though and that's over at Tombola who brought in games like Bloom and Winter Spotlight for limited time runs. Similarly Pragmatic Play's Bingo Blast has versions for summer (Beachballs) and Winter (Snowballs). A little tweak here and there on a game can help give the roster a mini-refresh and keep players interested. Wink, Jackpotjoy and others should really take note!
UKGC Settlement
Whilst MrQ in general has been on the up there have been a few bumps in the road too. Last month Lindar Media, who own and operate MrQ, were hit with a regulatory settlement of £690,947 by The UKGC. This settlement related to multiple social responsibility and anti-money laundering (AML) failures within the company’s operations. These issues arose during a compliance assessment between July 2021 and September 2022. Whilst this was an expensive lesson for Lindar Media and MrQ the good news for players is that they've improved their AML and safer gambling processes. MrQ also explain that they "continue to work proactively with the Gambling Commission to ensure these oversights are not repeated". Hopefully this is the only blip for MrQ and that they continue to progress in 2024. With many operators losing interest in bingo, the sector more than ever needs independents like MrQ to disrupt and re-energise things.
