MrQ Sponsors Celebrity Juice On ITV2

Published On 29th March 2022

The most proactive gambling brand of 2022 so far surely has to be MrQ. They've had a makeover, added the fabulous Evolution Live Game Shows to their roster and also expanded their slots offering to players. But as we reach the end of the first quarter of the year MrQ are not resting on their laurels. They're now undertaking another round of advertising which will include their first ever 'live action' TV advert. And if that wasn't enough they're also the sponsors of Celebrity Juice. The latter is for a 10 week deal that's aimed at raising awareness of the the MrQ brand.

MrQ & Celebrity Juice

Celebrity Juice is the saucy celebrity panel game show hosted by Keith Lemon. Original team captains Holly Willoughby and Fearne Cotton have been replaced by Emily Atack and Laura Whitmore. The current series runs on ITV2 at 10pm every Thursday plus you can catch up with the shows at any time via The ITV Hub. MrQ sponsor the bumpers around the show so before it starts and during the ad break you'll get a brief mention of the brand. The clip we saw involved four cherries dropping in to view - a bit like a slot machine - with some saucy 'yes' 'yes' yes's on each turn. A strawberry then drops in to view to ruin the winning line complete with a disappointing 'no'. It fits the nature of the show and may well appeal to the audience demographic.

Keith Lemon & 32Red

One thing that does confuses us slightly is that Keith Lemon also features prominently as the face of 32Red Casino. He's appeared in TV adverts and currently is the face on the brand's website. Selected players can also login until the end of March and play the daily free Keith's Lucky Lemons game. This game offers the chance to win up to £1000 as well as free spins on slots such as Fishin' Pots Of Gold™, Lucky Clucks, Cat Clans and Celebrity Juice. Yes that's the Celebrity Juice slot which is exclusive to 32Red. Could all this lead to some confusion and perhaps even a dilution of the brand awareness that MrQ are aiming for? Maybe! Maybe Not! But if you visit MrQ there's no reference to their sponsorship of the show. There's no fun free daily game to play either and definitely no Celebrity Juice slot. If you ended up on 32Red however you may well end up thinking that they're the show's sponsors.

Mixed Messages

This kind of thing isn't unusual when it comes to online gambling. For example Tombola have sponsored Emmerdale but the Emmerdale Bingo room featured at Gala. Similarly Tombola Arcade have been the sponsors of I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here for a few years now. However if you want to play the I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here slot then you have to head off to 32Red. In short we're not great fans of these mixed messages. In our minds it makes a lot more sense for one brand to have a strong association with one show. However life isn't that straightforward and sponsorship options are split into several pieces or offered by different companies. For example ITV may be responsible for the advertising element whilst the production company or licensee may choose who operates and promotes their themed slots.

New TV Campaign

One thing that won't have a mixed message is the new live TV ad campaign that will launch on the Sky Network on 1st April 2022. For those of you who prefer terrestrial TV then you'll have to wait until May to see the ad in the wild. Or alternatively you may well be able to spot it posted on YouTube or other social networks. So what will the advert involve? At the moment we don't know but we're guessing that it will probably involve a bunch of people sitting around, maybe in a cafe, playing MrQ on their mobiles - possibly even winning a jackpot or two. We say this because since The UKGC decided that Dancing Cactus and Pooping Pigeons were probably not appropriate images for advertising gambling brands all the TV ads for gambling we see today are all pretty safe samey affairs. One thing that we do expect - simply based on their designs - is that the advert will be fun, bright and colourful.
