Play Merge For Free Daily At Tombola
Published On 17th May 2021
Merge is the latest game to take over the free spot over at Tombola and Tombola Arcade. This pairs matching style instant win game gives players the chance to win a share of £40,000 including a top prize of £5000. Merge replaces the bingo inspired 4Free but like it's predecessors offers two chances to win by playing on both sites. No deposit is required to play but you do need to be registered and signed up to receive a weekly code via SMS.
How To Play Merge
To play Merge you first need to enter a 4 digit code. This code is sent to your mobile every Monday and only needs to be entered into either Tombola or Tombola Arcade once per week. Once you've entered the code you're ready to play! Merge is played on a 3x3 grid and over 7 rounds. On each round symbols will appear on the grid and the aim of the game is to match - or merge - identical symbols. The symbols are all food related so expect to see tomatoes, cheese, eggs, salami and avocade on your screens. When the foods match you can then move the symbols together to merge them. Each time you merge symbols this is marked off on the pay table to the left of the screen.
Win Up To £5000
To win on Merge you need to match three of a kind. For example match 3 cheeses (so three merges of cheese during the seven rounds) and you'll win £2. It's £10 for avocado, £20 for salami, £50 for cucumber, £500 for waffles, £1000 for eggs and £5000 for tomatoes. Believe us this will all make a lot more sense when you play the game. At the start of every game you can see which prizes have already been won plus there'a also a replay button so you can relive your glorious wins or - as is most likely the case with these free games - near misses. All wins are paid in cash and no wagering terms apply.
Is Merge A Good Game?
Although at it's core Merge is simply a match three of a kind scratchcard we quite enjoyed playing the game. It's fun to interact with the game and move the foodie symbols although you can bypass this and let the game run automatically. The graphics are simple but as is standard for Tombola really well done. We also like that you get two chances to play daily. That said we don't know what happened with our Arcade round today as the screen stayed blank. When we reloaded the screen the game had played and on replay (another feature we quite like) the screen was blank. That may well be down to a few new game gremlins and hopefully things will be working on both Tombola sites tomorrow.
One thing we like about Merge is there's been a change in prize structure. The minimum prize has been dropped to £2 (from £5 as on previous games like 4Free) and this should therefore create more winners. More winners means more happy players! The top prizes remain the same (x2 £5000, x5 £1000, x4 £500, x60 £50, x300 £20, x600 £10) but instead of 1600 x £5 winners there will instead be 4000 x £2 winners. Free to play games are good but you do at least want to feel like you might win something just once in a while. You just need to read the various comments on Tombola's Facebook to see that many players have never won on their free games.
More Free Games
Free to play games continue to rise in popularity and it's interesting to see how many other bingo and slots brands have added them to their sites. Betfair for example added Bingo Ball Scratcher earlier in the year, Foxy Bingo currently have free Jungle scratchcards and there are Instant Spins and The Wonder Wheel at Ladbrokes and Paddy Power respectively. The main difference between these sites and Tombola is that their free games do (usually) require some kind of initial deposit first. For example you can't play Wonder Wheel on Paddy Power Games unless you've funded your account. Just remember that the aim of these games is to make you the player return daily - and hopefully play - rather than make you a winner but it's still nice to try them daily.
