Play Emoji Bingo - 50 Ball Bingo
Published On 7th May 2022
With emojis now part of every day language it was perhaps inevitable that they'd somehow end up in a bingo game. Mecca Bingo launched Emoji Bingo back in 2016 and up until recently it was exclusive to them. However in the last 12 months or so it has become a staple at Mecca's new sister sites at Lucky Pants and Kitty respectively. Emoji Bingo is a 50 ball game that uses the popular mini icons in place of bingo numbers. This kind of thing has done before. Tombola for example used pirates and associated images for their Pirates game. But how good is Emoji Bingo? Will it leave you smiling or reaching for the sad emoji or worse?

What Is Emoji Bingo
Emoji Bingo is a 50 ball game that gets rid of the traditional bingo ball and replaces them with emojis such as the heart, smiley face, kiss, monkey see and the famous poo emoji. The bingo card consists of random emojis floating in speech marks. In many ways it looks and feels like Tombola's pulse. In fairness the latter is probably better game but Emoji Bingo does have some plus points. To play Emoji Bingo you first need to select your card price. This is a multistake game which and you can choose to wager 25p, 50p, £1, £2 or £3 per game. You can only purchase one card per game. All players will play the same game but the value of the prizes and jackpots increase based on your chosen ticket price. Each bingo card has 10 numbers and the aim of the game is to coverall all number first in order to win the full house.
When we last dropped in on Emoji Bingo they had two progressive jackpots on offer. The Emoji Jackpot could be won if house was called in 19 calls whilst The Emoji Big One could be won if house was called in 16 calls. Both were community jackpots. However these prize have now been replaced by Premiere Bingo Jackpots which are available across multiple Mecca Bingo rooms. There are five jackpots in fact including Bronze (fixed at £10), Silver (fixed at £50), Gold (fixed at £100), Platinum (progressive from £5000 and up to £10K) and Diamond (progressive from £10,000 and can go up to £70K). In some ways these multi-room jackpots take away from the individual rooms, but then we guess players may prefer the chance to win the bigger cash prizes?
Having also played Burst Bingo, another of Mecca Bingo's 50 Ball games, we didn't quite get the same enjoyment from Emoji. Like Burst the number calls are accompanied by the most annoying sound that quickly becomes aggrevating. This game would be better if the calls were actually read out "smiley", "poo face" etc. The Donald Duck on helium "we have a winner" announcement at the end is not a highlight. Emoji Bingo is one of three 50 ball games at Mecca Bingo. In our view it's not as good as either BOB or Burst. The Premiere Jackpots are nice but Burst offers the same game mechanic. Emoji just seems to be a game that "was a good idea at the time" but misses the target. A game where characters involved is a nice variation on bingo but Pirates at Tombola is a much better experience.
