Tombola Replace Stars With New Worlds Daily Game

The Stars have gone out at Tombola. This isn't a new Doctor Who adventure but a disappointing start to 2019 for fans of the daily free game. Not only have Tombola decided not to bring it back after it's advent hiatus, they've replaced it with a new game. Worlds can be played daily but it's no longer free to play.
Worlds is a new instant win game that features goblins, wizards, giants and other mystical creatures. Although it's not free to play it does cost just 1p daily. To enter all you have to do is enter your weekly SMS code, pay your penny and then play. The object of the game is to get the required number of characters in order to win cash prizes up to £1000.
Goblin Worlds
The game is set in Goblin World. We think Tombola will release more worlds - perhaps with higher entry fees - in due course. In the centre of the world is a building which is topped with a big red button. Click the button to release a character. This character will then travel through the grassy realm to take up home at their relevant stations located around the screen.
Each game allows 23 clicks of the red button. If you can't be bothered to wait for each character to reach their destination then hammer the button to speed up the game. Get 3 giants, 4 goblins, 7 elves. 4 dwarves, 6 centaurs or 8 wizards to win the cash prizes that are on offer. If you lose then there's another chance to play tomorrow.
End Of An Era
Worlds is available to play at both Tombola and Tombola Arcade. However, unlike the Stars game you can only play once per day across both sites. This is quite disappointing especially as you're now paying for the privilege to play.
As is typical for a Tombola game, Worlds is well designed and you can't really complain at the 1p daily cost for the chance to win up to £1000. It's even possible to win multiple times on each game. However, it's not free to play and the end of games like Go Fish and Stars signals the end of an era at Tombola.
Player Reaction
The reaction of players to the changes has been mixed. Some have welcomed the game because it means prizes go to those who pay and play at the site. A Tombola reply even goes as far to confirm this: " By making the game a 1p play, prizes are more likely to be shared by our loyal players who contribute regularly to the prize fund." Others have also pointed out that Go Fish did require a £2 deposit - although Stars was always free.
Other players have been less positive about the launch of Worlds. They've never won playing Go Fish or Stars so are unlikely to spend money to continue not winning. Others saw the free games as a reward for playing at Tombola. Now that they have to pay - even if it's just 1p - then that reward has effectively been taken away.
