Play Crystal Maze Bingo - 90 Ball Bingo

Published On 23rd June 2022

New variations on bingo are sometimes like London buses. There's nothing for ages and then they just keep appearing. Back in 2018 and joining the arrival of BOB from Mecca, Hot House (sadly now closed with Gala) and Age Of Gods across Virtue Fusion brands is Crystal Maze Bingo. This TV themed room follows in the footsteps of the Win Zones slot that recently launched at Gamesys brands such as Jackpotjoy and Virgin Games. Television inspired bingo games aren't new as we have the likes of Coronation Street, Love Island, Emmerdale, Take Me Out, The Chase and Deal Or No Deal all lending themselves to the genre with varying degrees of success. Crystal Maze Bingo arrived when there was a revival in interest of the show thanks to Richard Ayode and various celebrity players.

How To Play Crystal Maze Bingo

Crystal Maze Bingo is a traditional 90 ball game with an end game twist that will excite fans because it's based on the final game of the cult TV series. But how do you get to the end game? Before the game starts a zone is randomly selected. Will you play in Aztec, Industrial, Future or Medieval? This doesn't actually effect game play but it does influence the look of the room and tickets. Each game offers prizes for one line, two lines and the full house. A progressive jackpot is available provided you call house within 38 calls. Occasionally there are linked games where the prize money increases. Tickets cost from 15p but note that to play the bonus round you'll need to purchase a minimum of six tickets. The 90 ball game plays as usual with numbers being called until the full house is won.

However, if you have bought 6 tickets then you can play the Crystal Dome game after the full house has been called. To play the game you need to click on gold tokens and avoid the silver tokens. If you collect enough golds (and not too many silver) then you can earn free tickets for the next game. In addition to a personal gold ticket score there's also a community score. If your fellow roomies hit targets then you're awarded more free tickets. The Crystal Dome game is tougher than it seems - to get one ticket you need at least 25 golds. We found the clicking response quite slow and struggled to get up to 25 on a few occasions. In all the times we played there was also no community award. Perhaps the targets need to be adjusted based on the number of players entering the Crystal Dome? The Crystal Dome game is fun to play but coming away with no free tickets doesn't encourage revisting it too often.

Our Verdict

Overall though this is an exciting variation on the 90 ball bingo - and a worthy addition to the TV bingo stable. Having to purchase 6 tickets to play the end game does make it pricey. We'd actually like the end game to be made as a random prize to losing players (e.g those that end on 1TG) rather than on ticket purchase. Or perhaps after playing 'x' tickets regardless of number of games. However it is worth purchasing six and entering the Crystal Dome provided you can bag some free tickets. We found that there's no strategy to speak of within the dome. Simply try and click on anything gold and hope the click registers! Maybe it's easier to play on mobile? Anyway, one final point about Crystal Maze Bingo is that it's missing one key thing - and that is Richard O'Brien announcing "Start The Fans Please"!!
