I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here is back on our screens but there's a bit of a twist. For the first time the series is taking place in South Africa and it involves previous contestants who are battling out to become the first I'm A Celebrity Legend. Amongst those taking on the trials again are Shaun Ryder, Carol Vorderman, Phil Tufnell, Janice Dickinson and Helen Flanagan. As always they're joined by hosts Ant and Dec but this series is pre-recorded so there's no audience voting for things like who's going to do trials and/or be voted off. Another big difference is that the show's sponsor isn't Tombola Arcade. Instead this South Africa series is being sponsored by William Hill Vegas.
No Bugs But Maybe Prizes?
William Hill Vegas bumpers (or mini adverts) bookend the various ad breaks during the show. They are pretty simple clips too and don't reference bugs as Tombola have done on the more familiar series that runs around November and December. Also unlike Tombola Arcade, William Hill Vegas haven't added anything to their website that ties in with the show or sponsorship. So that means there are no daily free prize games, special bingo jackpots etc. Anyway it's safe to say that William Hill Vegas' sponsorship of I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here South Africa isn't quite as extensive as that demonstrated by Tombola Arcade over recent years. But there is good news because according to William Hill Vegas' social media people should "stay tuned for prize giveaways, exclusive interviews, and more over the next three weeks". We look forward to seeing what they have to offer. By the way there is a I'm A Celebrity slot but this is only available to play at 32Red Casino.
Future I'm A Celeb Sponsors?
Another thing that you won't find at William Hill with respect to I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here South Africa is a market to bet on who becomes the first Legend. As mentioned above this is a recorded series so the winner is already known. The celebs also don't get voted out by the public so there's no opportunity for that kind of betting market either. In case you're wondering though, for this particular series the camp-mates will go up against each other in various head to head challenges and these will determine who wins stars, treats and of course who gets eliminated. On the subject of elimination we do have to wonder whether the arrival of William Hill Vegas in camp for South Africa is the end for Tombola Arcade's sponsorship of the regular Aussie based IACGMOOH series. The Sunderland based company originally started their sponsorship in 2017 and in 2022 completed their sixth successful year. In many ways they've become symbiotic to the show so not being involved with South Africa seems strange. We guess we'll have to wait until later in the year to see what happens there.

Thankfully we won't have to wait long to discover who becomes the I'm A Celebrity Legend and whether the series will go down as a dud or a classic. The first episode introduced us to nine camp-mates all of whom had to complete a challenge to win stars. The atmosphere seemed jovial until Ant & Dec appeared in camp to introduce a twist. After the duo departed a huge box was carried in and Gillian McKeith emerged as the 10th camp-mate. McKeith was on the same series as Shaun Ryder and we could see immediately that the Happy Mondays frontman was not impressed by this new arrival. Expect sparks to fly! Less divisive arrivals to camp could include Dean Gaffney, Myleene Klass, Georgia Toffolo and Andy Whyment. Whilst these will add interest to camp none of them are going to spark controversy as much as the irritating and unpleasent presence of McKeith.
