Jackpotjoy Launch New Sportsbook Channel

The Euros 2024 Tournament has kicked off and hoping to benefit from the summer of football is Jackpotjoy. In an unexpected move the slots and bingo brand have decided to branch out into offering sportsbook markets to their players. This means that you can now login with the same username/password details and have a wager on different sports including Football, NBA, Basketball, Cricket and Golf. Just click on the 'Sports' button at the top left of the Jackpotjoy website when you login on desktop.
The Joy Of Sports
Many bookmakers including Paddy Power, Betfair, Bet365, William Hill and Ladbrokes have all branched out from their sportsbook backgrounds into casino, slots, poker and bingo. So it kind of makes sense for Jackpotjoy to perhaps look and getting customers from sports and/or keeping their own players within their own environment as opposed to potentially losing them to established bookies. However at the moment 'Sports' does seem to be a bit of an add on as opposed to a pivotal feature for the brand. At the moment there are no incentives for new players to try the sportsbook section and there's also no promotions for established players. We do wonder whether that'll change in time or whether the arrival of 'Sports' is purely on trial during Euros 2024 to see how it performs within the Jackpotjoy platform?
All In A Flutter
Jackpotjoy though aren't the first slots/bingo brand to introduce a betting section for their players. Back in 2014 Gala Bingo added 'Flutter' to their roster as a way to offer betting options at a predominantly female audience. To do this they focused on bets on TV shows such as Britain's Got Talent, lottery betting and other specials such as The Christmas Number One. You could bet on traditional sports albeit it was more 'bookies lite'. Interestingly Gala's Flutter did launch during the World Cup in Brazil so perhaps the thought process for 'Flutter' was the same as the one with Jackpotjoy Sports. The Flutter experiment however didn't pan out as expected and closed in January 2016 due to insufficient interest from the Gala Bingo audience.

Jackpotjoy will be hoping that their venture into Sports works out better than Gala Bingo's little 'Flutter'. If it does then we might well see other Bally brands adding to their rosters. However as Virgin Bet already exists as it's own entity that may pose a problem for introducing Sports to Virgin Games. The big questions are will Sports work out well for Jackpotjoy and why have they added it? As we've already alluded to above it's presence helps keep customers interested in betting within the platform but could it be because other elements, such as bingo, are no longer the big draw for players and are a lot less viable. By adding a new betting channel Jackpotjoy is potentially moving it's audience in a new direction. For bingo fans that could be a massive worry.
