Lucky Fish Finder Review
Fish seem to be the theme of choice in game developer circles. Head to any top slots brand and you'll find Fishin Frenzy, Big Fishing Fortune and Big Bass Bonanza amongst the popular games. Joining this school of fish related fun is a scratchcard game by Inspired Entertainment. It's called Lucky Fish Finder and it gives you the chance to win big cash prizes. To make this instant win more interesting the developers have also added an option to win bigger prizes by increasing the risk of losing. In essence it's a version of Battleships or Minesweep but instead of seeking out boats and/or mines you're finding fish and avoiding getting the boot.
How To Play Lucky Fish Finder
Lucky Fish Finder is played on a 5x5 grid that holds 25 bubbles. The background is a beautifully designed underwater scene complete with starfish and buried treasure. As the player you have control over the volatility of this game from the outset. Initially you're able to select your wager which can be set from between 20p and £20. There are multiple wager steps in this range including 40p, 60p, 80p, £1, £2, £4, £6, £8 and £10. However you can also set the number of boots that are active within the game. The base game is 1 boot with 24 picks and this has minimum risk as it means there's 24 prize squares and just one square that will end your game. However you can increase the boot numbers (and therefore the number of potential picks) to 2 and 23 picks, 3 and 20 picks, 5 and 15 picks, 7 and 12 picks, 10 and 8 picks and 15 boots and 5 picks. As these variables change so does the maximum win that's available should you miraculously avoid the danger zones. Note that at low values you can't choose less than three boots.
Lucky Fish Finder Strategy
To play the game all you have to do is click on the bubbles. The aim of the game is to pick the bubbles and find the fish and win the prizes. On the top right of the Lucky Fish Finder screen you'll see a "Next Win" box. This represents the value of the prize that will be awarded should you select a fish. When you reveal a fish you have the option to cash-out or play on and potentially accumulate a bigger prize. You can do this for as long as you reveal winning symbols. Note that the more boots that are active in play then the odds of revealing one start to increase as you remove bubbles. If you hook a boot then it's game over and you lose any accumulated prizes during that round. In terms of strategy, Inspired Entertainment suggest that for stakes under £1 the best way to play is choose three boots and cash out after revealing one fish. However for stakes over £1 you should choose a one boot option and again cash out when you reveal the first fish.
Our Verdict
Lucky Fish Finder is a simple game but it's a lot of fun too. There are no gimmicks, free spins, free plays or bonus rounds which is fine as we don't feel they're needed here. It's just a straightforward click and find game with a wonderful design. But what about playing the game and does the strategy work? Well we did try the suggested strategy for stakes under £1 and whilst it's sound advice it's also pretty unexciting as you only walk away with a couple of pennies by cashing out on the first fish. Interestingly despite the boots being positioned randomly we still managed to lose on our first turn a couple of times. So we actually ended up losing overall. We also tried playing with 15 boots and we can safely say that it's not the best option. Lucky Fish Finder is apparently the first of a series of Finder games from Inspired Gaming. If this is the benchmark then we can't wait to see what comes next.
