Coronation Street Scratchcard Review
Coronation Street is probably not the first TV show you'd think of when it comes to being associated with slots, bingo and scratchcards. However The UK's longest running TV soap has featured in a number of games including Coronation Street Bingo and the now, sadly departed, Cobble Dash instant win. Corrie used to be an exclusive theme element on Gala Bingo but since it's move to the Entain platform other brands like Coral and Foxy now share it. This means you can enjoy the 90 ball bingo room, a link & win slot game plus a couple of scratchcard games. One is called Thunderboard and the other Thunderscratch where the main difference is the game mechanic. But are they any good?
Coronation Street Thunderboard
The Coronation Street Thunderboard game is called The Kabin, after the corner shop that features in the show. When you first open the game you'll greeted with a funked up version of the theme tune. It's mixed with sounds of cars, people walking, tills and the door of the shop opening. In the background you'll see the familiar chimney pots that are instantly recognisable as Corrie. The Thunderboard game itself comprises of 25 squares spread across a 5x5 grid. To play you first need to select a wager which starts from just 10p but can be increased up to a maximum of £10. In order to win with Coronation Street Thunderboard you need to find three matching symbols behind the squares. Winning symbols include sweets, cards, newspapers, drinks, gumball and a newspaper stand. The latter is the highest paying symbol and will generate a x500 prize. The game continues until you match three of a kind, however be careful because if you find three matching crisps symbols then it's a no win.
Coronation Street Thunderscratch
With Coronation Street Thunderscratch we move from The Kabin into The Rovers Return. There's no funky music with this particular game but you do here cars, walking and doors opening. There's also a few sounds that sound like a hairdressers! This scratchcard game is set on a red brick background but if you look closely The Rovers is blurred into the background of the card. To play Thunderscratch you first need to select a wager. Again this can range from 10p up to a maximum of £10. This is a typical scratchcard game that requires you to reveal the nine panels that feature Hilda Ogden's flying ducks to reveal different symbols. If you match three of a kind (or more) then you win a prize. The symbols in play are a pint of beer, pub sign, dartsboard, Newton & Ridley beermat, a cat, a pigeon and a RR symbol. The pigeon is the highest paying symbol and this will payout x30 for three of a kind, x60 for four of a kind and x100 for five of a kind. Get three of the RR symbol to win a random prize award of between x2 and x100 your wager.
A Load Of Old Cobbles
It's such a shame that Coronation Street Cobble Dash is no longer active on Gala Bingo. It was an instant win game very much in the spirit of Tombola's Hamster Race but with Corrie characters. You could bet on who from Ivy Tilsley, Reg Holdsworth, Ena Sharples, Fred Eliott, Alec Gilroy and Schmeichel the dog would traverse the famous cobbles in first place. Coronation Street Cobble Dash was - in our view - the polar opposite of Thunderboard and Thunderscratch. Fun, interesting, worth a repeat play and very much on theme. Sadly Coronation Street Thunderboard and Coronation Street Thunderscratch are very basic games with average graphics and just a nod to the show. There are so many iconic elements in the Corrie Canon that surely designers could have come up with better symbols or even better graphics? If you love Coronation Street and enjoy a scratchcard or two then maybe take a look but we're not sure you'd go back for too many repeats.
