Game Of Thrones Slot Review
Long before everyone was concerned about the ending of Game Of Thrones a slot of the same name arrived on the scene. Actually two slots arrived - both from Quickfire Powered By Microgaming - one with 15 paylines and the other with 243. Are these games worthy of sitting on the Iron Throne or should they be burnt by one of Daenerys' dragons?
When you load in the Game Of Thrones slot game you're welcomed with the haunting but familiar strains of the theme tune. Unfortunately this is where relations to the show begin and end. If you're expecting to see Sansa, Arya, Jon Snow, Cersei, Lord Varys, Tyrion, Jamie, Bran, Brienne or Gandry spinning around the reels then you're goiung to be disappointed.
The Iron Throne
Instead the slot comprises of symbols representing the houses of Baratheon, Lannister, Stark and Targaryen. These are joined by a Game Of Thrones symbols alongside A, J, Q and K. The GoT symbol is high paying at x66 for 5 of a kind on the 15 reel game. These also act as stacked wilds on the base game and free game round.
Wagering on the 15 reel game starts at 30p but increases up to £15 (Casumo) by adjusting coin size and number of coins. An Autoplay feature allows you to sit back and enjoy the GoT theme tune whilst up to 100 spins of the reels takes place on mobile, desktop or tablet. Note that Microgaming slots tend to work better in Chrome browsers.
Bonus Round & Features
The main feature of the Game Of Thrones slot is free games. Get three or more Iron Throne symbols to activate the bonus round. In the bonus round you can select 1 of 4 options - one from each house. Each house offers a different variation on number of free spins, win multipliers and stacked symbols. For example choose Stark for 14 free spins and a x3 multiplier. Free spins can be retriggered.
Additional features of this slot machine are a scatter bonus triggered when you get two bonus symbols thereby missing the free spins round, and the Gamble Trail. This trail lets you try and double your winnings up to 4 times care of a flip of a coin. Each flip moves you to a new destination on a map along with a clip from the show. Use this feature with caution especially on larger wins.
Our Verdict
Launched in 2014, Game Of Thrones slots still looks good and plays well. It is disappointing that the reels don't feature characters from the show and there is a disctinct lack of dragons. However, with the timeless theme tune and the occasional clip to enjoy in The Gamble Trail. GoT slots is perfect for fans of the show and those who just enjoy slots.
With the series about to end we do wonder whether Quickfire will see this as an opportunity to follow up on their 15 line and 243 line classic games. There's most certainly scope for them and plenty of subject matter to create a whole series based on the tales of Fire & Ice.
