Slingo Constitution Hill Review
Just over two years, possibly to coincide with The Cheltenham Festival, Gaming Realms released Slingo Racing. This novel game combined the slots/bingo featured of Slingo and the excitement of racing via a kind of virtual horse race running alongside the game. The format of Slingo Racing was recently regurgitated for their festive offering, Elf Blitz, and it's now making another return this time with Slingo Constitution Hill. In case you're unaware, Constitution Hill is a British racehorse that won The Champion Hurdle in 2023. Some pundits suggest that the horse is one of the best hurdlers of all time. Whilst those credentials may give the Slingo Racing game a bit of kudos does the additional of Constitution Hill make the game any different? We thought we'd take a look.
Slingo Constitution Hill is identical in design and layout as Slingo Racing. This means you have a green grass background with the familiar 5x5 grid slap bang in the centre of the screen. The numbers reel is located beneath the grid. Around the outside is a three track racecourse represented by three colours, red, blue and light blue. In the original game the light blue is green but for Constitution Hill the green has been replaced by the horse's silk colours. There are three horses at the start line waiting for the off. Multipliers occupy the closing stages of the track whilst the paytable is neatly laid out either side of the grid. The game buttons are located at the right of screen. Wagering on this version of Slingo, which can be set by selecting the gold cash button, starts at 20p. This can be increased up to a maximum of £20 (although this will no doubt change later in 2024). The minimum and maximum wager may vary from site to site.
How To Play Slingo Constitution Hill
In addition to being able to set the wager you can also use the in-game options of Slingo Constitution Hill to number of extra spins, maximum extra spin price, total single game stake and total single game loss. These are useful tools to help you keep within your wagering boundaries. The aim of any Slingo game is to get lines - horizontal, vertical or diagonal - of five numbers. The more lines you complete the higher the prize you can win. Once you start the game the spins are automatic so you don't need to keep hitting the spin button. Before you can play Slingo Constitution Hill you first need to select one of three horses - red, blue or light blue (The title horse is one of your options but the others have fun names like Foal's Gold and Hairy Trotter). Each horse has different volatility therefore different multipliers. For example the red horse can win multipliers up to x1000. Each spin generates up to 5 different coloured numbers - each number that is marked off the grid also sees the horse of the respective colour move around the track.
Extra Spins
Helping you to complete lines are the usual wilds and super wilds. Note that not every square will turn into a coloured shirt - sometimes they become horseshoes. At the start of the race you have 10 spins but like other versions of Slingo you may be invited to spin on after the base game concludes and any free spins used. You must have at least one Slingo to be able to wager on on a particular grid and have just 40 turns available. The horses continue around the track as you wager on. Once you've accumulated at least two lines on Slingo Racing then you've won a cash prize. The more lines you create the bigger the prize. Your prize can also be increased if your chosen horse ends the game on a multiplier square. Multipliers of the other two horses don't count in your game.
Win Up To x1000 Your Wager
The prizes you can win from creating lines are all cash prizes and prizes start at two slingos. The lowest prize you can win is x1 the wager and this increases to x500 for a full house. In comparison to recent additions to the Slingo stable these isn't the most generous of paytables. However as mentioned you can also win with the racing element of the game. The green horse starts at x0.2 and increases to x200 your wager, the blue horse has a x1 to x500 multiplier range whilst the higher volatile red horse offers wins from x4 to x1000. The Verdict On Slingo Constitution Hill Review
When Slingo Racing launched we said that it was a "fine addition to the Slingo Stable", which it was and still is. As Constitution Hill is essentially the same game we have to say that we also enjoy the game. The addition of the racing track gives the base game a lot more interest. However we do feel a little bit cheated because aside from the arrival of a famous horse resulting in a colour change here and a name change there, there's nothing different, new or exciting. We guess the idea behind the game is simply to "cash in" on interest surrounding The Cheltenham Festival and that's fair enough, but it does feel a little bit of a lazy addition to the suite of games. In many ways this should simply be a replacement for Slingo Racing as there's no need for both games to be on rosters of online slots and casino brands.
