Slingo, the slots meets bingo games, is making it's way through history. It's left the Roman Empire of Centurion and landed in the time of The Vikings for their latest title. Slingo Berserk puts you on board a longboat. Can you conquer the 5x5 grid and raid the loot that's available to be won? The word beserk means to erupt into a furious rage perhaps even becoming violet. It's attributed to Norse warriors who were renowed for only wearing a bearskin shirt (or berserkar) in battle. Unsurprisingly Slingo Berserk is full of Viking imagery. Long boats, representing four jackpots, sail stormy seas whilst swords, helmets and gold can be seen around the 5x5 grid. Lightning stikes, possibly from Thor himself, and a battle ready soundtrack add to the atmosphere.
How To Play Slingo Berserk
The aim of Slingo Berserk is to get lines - horizontal, vertical or diagonal - of five numbers. With Berserk you're given an initial 11 spins. Each spin generates five numbers below the 5x5 grid. If any numbers match then these are marked off. When you complete a row of five numbers then you move up the prize board. The more lines you complete the higher up the prize board you progress. During game play you may pick up free spins, wilds (lightning strikes) or maces. The latter prevent you from marking off a number.
Wagering on this version of Slingo starts at 20p. This can be increased up to a maximum of £25 (Buzz Bingo). The minimum and maximum wager may vary from site to site. There is no Autoplay but Slingo Beserk does allow you to wager on after the base game concludes. As in other versions of Slingo, once you've used your 11 initial spins and any free spins - you'll be invited to play on for a given price and shown the potential win available. We advise against this option as wins are very rare.
Mega Jackpot
If you're a big trigger happy then do set the play controls that are available on Berserk. With these controls you can set the number of extra spins, maximum extra spin price, total game stake and total game loss. These are worth setting if you're going to wager on beyond the base game. We're still iffy about the wager on facility though but with these controls you can at least limit any losses.
In order to win on Slingo Beserk you need to complete at least three lines. Complete 11 lines to win a a full house which is x5000 the initial stake. Unlike many other Slingo variations Beserk does have a jackpot feature. Lightning during the game shoots coins up to the chest. If the coins start to cascade down the screen then this triggers the jackpot game. During the jackpot round you need to pick coins to reveal vikings. Match three of the same to win either the Mini, Minor, Major or Mega Jackpot. The Mega Jackpot is x10,000 your initial stake.
The Verdict On Slingo Berserk Review
Slingo Beserk is another stylish looking version of this increasingly popular slots meets bingo game. The Viking theme is well executed and there's a lot of drama with respect to the music and lightning strikes. However Beserk also feels like one of the toughest versions of Slingo to actually win, despite you initially only needing three lines to get a prize. We played numerous times and not once did we reach three lines without having to go past the base game.
It does seem that the whole premise of Berserk is to wager on. And yet wagering on doesn't seem to get you a good result, just more enticements to make you consider another spin. The presence of the jackpots adds an additional element to gameplay although we'd be surprised if they pop up more than once in a blue moon. We all know The Vikings like to pillage and Berserk follows in their footsteps. It's great fun to play but have low expectations for wins.
