Slingo Elf Blitz Review

There's a tendancy amongst game developers to create festive versions of their games so we end up with Christmas Fishin' Frenzy or Santa's Winter Wilds. Joining in with the festive theming are Slingo who have decided to add snow and tinsel to another of their formats. Up to now we've had to make do with Slingo Bells but this has now been joined by Slingo Elf Blitz. If you're a fan of Slingo and are thinking that you'll going to experience a brand new version of the slots meets bingo game then you're going to be disappointed. And that's because this game is simply Slingo Racing in a festive wrapper. The horses have been replaced by elves on sleighs and there are the obligatory bells and snow to indicate the season.

Slingo Elf Blitz

The folks over at Slingo have taken the green grass background of Slingo Racing and dumped a load of snow all over it. There's also a whole range of festive imagery around the periphery just so you know this is a Winter/Christmas game. The familiar 5x5 grid remains slap bang in the centre of the screen and the numbers reel is located beneath the grid. Around the outside is a three track racecourse represented by three colours, red, blue and green. There are three elves on sleighs at the start line waiting for the off. Multipliers occupy the closing stages of the track whilst the paytable is neatly laid out either side of the grid. The game buttons are located at the right of screen. Wagering on this version of Slingo, which can be set by selecting the gold cash button, starts at 20p. This can be increased up to a maximum of £100. The minimum and maximum wager may vary from site to site.

How To Play Slingo Elf Blitz

In addition to being able to set the wager you can also use the in-game options of Slingo Elf Blitz to number of extra spins, maximum extra spin price, total single game stake and total single game loss. These are useful tools to help you keep within your wagering boundaries. The aim of any Slingo game is to get lines - horizontal, vertical or diagonal - of five numbers. The more lines you complete the higher the prize you can win. Once you start the game the spins are automatic so you don't need to keep hitting the spin button. Before you can play Slingo Elf Blitz you first need to select one of three horses - red, blue or green (although they do have fun names like Speedy McMistletoes, Peppersprint Pat and Jingle Belle). Each elf has different volatility therefore different multipliers. For example the red elf can win multipliers up to x1000. Each spin generates up to 5 different coloured numbers - each number that is marked off the grid also sees the elf of the respective colour move around the track.

Extra Spins

Helping you to complete lines are the usual wilds and super wilds. Note that not every square will turn into a coloured present. At the start of the race you have 10 spins but like other versions of Slingo you may be invited to spin on after the base game concludes and any free spins used. You must have at least one Slingo to be able to wager on on a particular grid and have just 40 turns available. The elves continue around the track as you wager on. Once you've accumulated at least two lines on Slingo Elf Blitz then you've won a cash prize. The more lines you create the bigger the prize. Your prize can also be increased if your chosen elf ends the game on a multiplier square. Multipliers of the other two runners don't count in your game.

Win Up To x1000 Your Wager

The prizes you can win from creating lines are all cash prizes and prizes start at two slingos. The lowest prize you can win is x1 the wager and this increases to x500 for a full house. In comparison to recent additions to the Slingo stable these isn't the most generous of paytables. However as mentioned you can also win with the racing element of the game. The green elf starts at x0.2 and increases to x200 your wager, the blue elf has a x1 to x500 multiplier range whilst the higher volatile red elf offers wins from x4 to x1000. If you'd like to try playing Slingo Elf Blitz without worrying about how much you're wagering then we suggest playing the demo version for free.

Our Verdict

When Slingo Racing launched we said that the variant was "another fine addition to the Slingo stable". As this is simply a festively wrapped version of the same game then surely we must think the same? Well "yes" we do although we do have a small gripe in that it's all a bit too colourful. The colourful track, the colourful presents on the grid and the colourful background have literally been blitzed together for a visual feast for some and a visual nightmare for others. We found that it took a few plays to get used to the look but in truth we'd probably not hop on a one horse open sleigh and head back to Elf Blitz in a hurry. Still it is better than Slingo Bells! If you're a fan of Christmas themed games and Slingo especially then you'll probably love this racing style version and it's festive counterpart.
