Slingo Fire & Ice Review

It's fair to say that we've not been overly impressed with some of the recent additions to the Slingo stable. Branded games such as Heart Slingo and The Sun Slingo are just basic versions as were Masked Singer and Slingo Bells. The next addition to the stable however is a lot more exciting and once again puts this slots meet bingo game right back to centre stage. Fire & Ice is the result of collaboration with Rogue Gaming who interestingly also worked on Sweet Bonanza, Starburst, Lobstermania and Big Wheel versions of the game. This version really stands out from the crowd though because players get to play not one but two Slingo boards - both at the same. Can you stay cool enough to win the hot prizes with Fire & Ice?

The gameboard for Fire & Ice perfectly reflects the opposites. To the right you have the red grid representing fire whilst on the left is a cool blue grid representing ice. The background for this game is also split with flames warming one side whilst icy winds blow in on the other. A set of purple squares in the centre of the screen do more than divide the two grids as they also host the spin results - on a typical game these would appear at the bottom of the screen. On the left there's a "pay table" showing multipliers whilst on the right there's a pay table with cash amounts. Whilst there's a lot of numbers on the screen it's actually quite a simple set-up for an intriguing version of the game. Wagering on this version of Slingo starts at 20p. This can be increased up to a maximum of £100. The minimum and maximum wager may vary from site to site.

How To Play Slingo Fire & Ice

In addition to being able to set the wager you can also use the in-game options to number of extra spins, maximum extra spin price, total single game stake and total single game loss. These are useful tools to help you keep within your wagering boundaries. The aim of any Slingo game is to get lines - horizontal, vertical or diagonal - of five numbers. The more lines you complete the higher the prize you can win. That applies to Fire & Ice but across two grids. Slingos on the Fire side will earn you multipliers whilst completed lines on the Ice side win you a cash amount. Once you start the game the spins are automatic so you don't need to keep hitting the spin button. Each spin generates up to 5 numbers that may apply to either fire, ice or both. These numbers are then marked off as in any normal game.

Extra Spins

Once you've accumulated at least two lines on the Ice side then you've won a cash prize. The more Ice lines you create the bigger the prize. The more Fire lines you create the bigger the multiplier. During game play you may pick up wilds and free spins but look out for the joker symbol (a cross) as this prevents you from marking off a number. In addition you may get land a fire or ice gem to win a fixed jackpot. The Ice Jackpot is x1000 the wager whilst the Fire Jackpot is x250. Note that you do need to complete a double Slingo for the jackpot feature to become active. At the start of the game you have 10 spins but like other versions of Slingo you may be invited to spin on after the base game concludes and any free spins used. However in Fire & Ice you can choose to wager on the Fire side or the Ice side depending whether you want to try and boost the multiplier or the cash amount. You must have at least one Slingo to be able to wager on on a particular grid and have just 40 turns available.

Win Up To x1000 Your Wager

The prizes you can win from creating lines are all cash prizes and prizes start at two Ice slingos. The lowest prize you can win is x0.4 the wager and this increases to x1000 for a full house provided you've accumulated full houses on both sides (x100 for Ice and then a x10 multiplier on Fire). In comparison to recent additions to the Slingo stable these isn't the most generous of paytables. However as mentioned there two gem jackpots in play during the game. At the end of a game you obviously don't have to wager on and can just opt to collect your prize or end the game. If you'd like to try playing Slingo Fire & Ice without worrying about how much you're wagering then we suggest playing the demo version for free.

The Verdict On Slingo Fire & Ice Review

Fire & Ice sets a new standard for Slingo games. Graphically Fire & Ice is simple but it's brilliantly done - the Game Of Thrones-esque background music just adds to the gameplay. Having two grids together makes the game a lot more intriguing even more so when it comes to the 'wagering on' element. Do you choose Fire for the multipliers or Ice for the cash prize? Do you pick the cheaper wager or gamble a higher price? We'd like to see bigger prizes but that's just being picky. There is one huge problem though and that's for future versions of this slots meet bingo game to address. From hereon we no longer want to see the dullfest that is branded casino and bingo versions or Slingo Bell variants. All future Slingo games need to be as good as Fire & Ice or better - otherwise they shouldn't be released.
