Slingo Shark Week Review

Before Da Vinci Diamonds was added to the Slingo roster they decided to head to the oceans for something a little bit different. More recently variants of this game have tended to focus on slots but for this particular game the theme involves a TV show. Slingo Shark Week is a collaboration with the Discovery Channel's show of the same name. It was launched earlier than Da Vinci Diamonds but we just wanted to see whether another bingo portal would report on Shark Week Slingo first rather than DaVD Slingo after we had reviewed the game. They didn't disappoint yet again. Anyway Slingo Shark Week is simply the bingo meets slot game with sharks. It includes an exciting bonus round where these magnificent creatures can help win you big prizes. But is Slingo Shark Week a hit like Jaws or an embarassment to all involved like Jaws 4.

The ocean and fishing seem to be a popular themes for slot designers lately with the likes of Big Bass Bonanza, Big Fishing Fortune and Fishin' Frenzy all sitting on the 'must play sections' of many casinos. We're not sure why but obviously players enjoy the theme and to be fair it beats actually going fishing. Slingo Shark Week sits well with these titles and looks equally as good. As you may well expect for a game involving Sharks the setting for this version of Slingo is underwater. The deep blue sea background is actually pretty cool and features fish and sharks swimming around. The 5x5 number grid occupies the centre of the screen and for this particular variant is designed as a shark cage. The paytable occupies the area to the left of the game screen whilst all your controls and settings are to the right.

How To Play Slingo Shark Week

PLaying Slingo Shark Week is the same as every other variant. You pick your wager which can be as low as 20p or as high as 5 (or higher depending where you play). In addition to being able to set the wager you can also use the in-game options to limit the number of extra spins, maximum extra spin price, total single game stake and total single game loss. These are useful tools to help you keep within your wagering boundaries. The aim of Slingo Shark Week is to create winning lines - horizontal, vertical or diagonal - of five numbers. The more lines you complete the higher the prize you can win. At the start of the game you have 10 spins which is quite low when compared to other versions. On each spin the individual reels may reveal a number and if these match any on your playing card then they're removed. Numbers are marked with a shark fin so you can see your progress. Spins of the reels are automated so you don't have to do get too involved with the game play.

Extra Spins

Ten spins never ever seem enough to get a full house on Slingo let alone enough to start winning via the payable. Therefore during game play you may get a wild or super wild symbol. These allow you to select numbers on your game card to cross off. Jokers are back for this particular version and are represented by red crosses. Additionally you may get a free spin ball which allows another spin at the end of the game. To win on Slingo Shark Week you need to create a minimum of five lines. This will earn you a x5 win. However like other variants of the game you are encouraged to spin on for the chance to get a bigger prize. There's no limit to the number of extra spins you can play on this game but do remember each spin does require an extra wager. You can see your total wager totting up at the bottom left of the screen.

Bonus Rounds

Unlike most Slingo versions, Slingo Shark Week offers players access to bonus rounds for completing 6 or more lines. Shark Slots gives you 7 free spins on a 3x3 slot game with 32 paylines. Play Break The Cage for the chance to win x6 to x49 your wager whilst in Fish Grab you need to click on as many fish as possible to determine your multipler win. What Did The Shark Eat is a guessing game where you have to select the object that you think the shark ate. Get it right to generate a multiplier win. If you hit 10 Slingos then you get to spin the Shark Wheel which offers either a multiplier win on an enhanced version of the other games. The minimum prize is x80 your wager. Finally get a full house for Shark Award. In this bonus round the sharks collect sacks of gold to generate a win multiplier of between x150 and x790.

Our Verdict

There's plenty to like about Slingo Shark Week thanks to the awesome theme. Why bother with old works of art in Da Vinci Diamonds when you can enjoy sharks! We love the fact that you can get to play a mix of bonus rounds by hitting six or more Slingos and those rounds are a lot of fun. Where Slingo Shark Week lacks a bit of bite though is that the paytable doesn't indicate the minimum and maximum multipliers. This information is useful because it gives you an idea whether it's worth wagering on or collecting a prize. Shark Week is a Slingo variant that does like to encourage wagering on because the initial amounts tend to be quite low. Our advice therefore is have a good look through the help section before playing and maybe make a note of win ranges at each step of the paytable before committing to play.
