Wordsearch Bingo is the latest variation game to launch at Tombola Bingo (July 2023). It combines all the fun of the traditional numbers game together with the popular word puzzle game. Instead of crossing off numbers on your card the aim of the 36 ball game is to find all the words hidden in the wordsearch. It's a brilliant idea and actually works really well. You can even opt out of auto-marking so you can do the searches yourself. As you can guess we really like this new bingo variant so let's take a closer look.

How To Play Wordsearch Bingo
Like many other Tombola Bingo games, Wordsearch Bingo is a multistake game. This means that you choose to wager 10p, 25p, 50p, £1 or £2 but will always play the aame round as your fellow roomies. The prizes on offer vary depending upon the price you pay. Each player only has one ticket. Once you've purchased your ticket you'll enter the room where your wordsearch puzzle can be seen in the middle of the screen. Each round has a different theme. For example the puzzle may be on Sweets, Tech, Transport, Beach, Golf, Festivals and Animals. In fact there are 20 different themes! Above your puzzle you'll see nine words which represent the nine "numbers" on your bingo card. Your aim is to find these words as they're called by the caller. If the call matches one on your card then it's marked off. The game automatically is set to auto-daub but if you want to make things more fun then you can switch this off and find the words yourself.
Full House & Jackpot
Wordsearch Bingo is a 36 ball game and players play for a full house prize which is one when all nine words are marked off on the ticket. There are no other base game prizes. The full house prize varies depending on the number of players in the room and also the price you pay for a ticket. At time of writing a 10p ticket offered the chance to win a FH at around £60, but this is because a lot of players are trying the new game. If you're lucky enough to get a full house within 11 calls then you'll also win the Jackpot prize. This is a fixed jackpot and is £50 at 10p but increases up to £1000 should you opt to play for £2 stakes. Note that if the Jackpot is miraculously won by more than one player at the same time then each play gets the full prize and it isn't shared. We suspect that this scenario never actually happens.
Bingo & Words
This isn't the first time that bingo and wordsearch have been combined. My Word Search gives visitors advice about how to create their own Wordsearch Bingo game. You can even download games and cards. However in this version all players have the same card and have to be the first to find and cross off the drawn words. A similar approach is adopted by Puzzles To Play who have just the one bingo themed wordsearch puzzle available to download. Tombola's approach where each player has a different bingo ticket is a lot better and brilliantly combines the two pastimes into one fun bundle. We're not sure if other word puzzles could be combined into a bingo concept but it'd be interesting to see if Tombola look at this area for further variants in the future.
Our Verdict
This is a very clever concept when it comes to online bingo. Replacing numbers on a bingo card obviously isn't new but using the wordsearch puzzle idea elevates this game to high levels. Giving players the chance to 'search' themselves during a round adds an extra element of fun. In fact it works so well that it again makes us wonder why other operators are just so poor at innovation. Game play is really enjoyable and we like that there are different themes as this keeps things fresh. We expect that Tombola could well include seasonal versions of Wordsearch Bingo at Halloween, Christmas, Easter etc. As ever there's the usual Tombola downside of there just being so many players in one room. Our advice is give the game a try but you might want to wait until the initial interest drops off for better chances of winning.
