What Is The Bonus Vault At William Hill Vegas?
Published On 24th October 2024
If you've dropped into William Hill Vegas in the last few days to play The Bonus Drop you may have noticed a new addition to their promotions roster. It's called The Bonus Vault it gives you the chance to win up to £100. Now when we first saw this new promo we initially thought that maybe this is a potential replacement for The Bonus Drop. That particular free to play game has been online for a long time and in our view has gotten a little stale. In fact it's raison d'etre seems to have become diluted because William Hill Vegas regularly offer their players the chance to collect free spins on selected games without the need of a free game mechanic. More on that later, but for now let's look at The Bonus Vault and see what that entails and how it plays!
What Is The Bonus Vault?
Unlike The Bonus Drop, The Bonus Vault doesn't exist as a standalone game. In fact it's simply a random prize generator that can appear at any time when you're playing slots. To take part you need to wager a minimum stake of 1p on any online slots/table game and play the game. When we first read this it did seem to imply that after a 1p wager you'd suddenly see The Bonus Vault appear - it doesn't! What we think happens is that during game play the vault will appear and offer a player the chance to open it. According to the terms "a pop-up animation will appear during gameplay with details of your prize and how to claim it". If you manage to activate The Bonus Vault then you win £100. On top of that all others playing online when the Bonus Vault opens will win a prize of £1. In simpler terms it's basically a random bonus generator that rewards players at unknown times during the day. You have zero influence on whether it'll appear and zero knowledge of when it'll appear. The Bonus Vault will run at William Hill Vegas from the 8th December until further notice.
Will It Replace The Bonus Drop?
It's quite possible that the arrival of The Bonus Vault could see the phasing out of The Bonus Drop. Perhaps William Hill are trialling their new feature to see how player's react before making a final decision? As we've already mentioned we think that The Bonus Drop as a game has lost it's way. There's no need to play it to try and win free spins as free spins are readily available almost weekly and hands up if you've ever heard of anyone winning any cash prize let alone the £1000 top prize? The fact that actually winning anything, even a deposit bonus, these days seems impossible makes it less of an incentive to play. The Bonus Vault could change that as it could randomly reward actual wagering players with up to £100 plus everyone else playing, although how that part of the deal actually works isn't well defined. However the problem is that Vault is, once you get past the marketing waffle, not that exciting. Calling it The Bonus Vault sounds exciting but it is basically a "look out as you might get a bonus when you're playing" feature. It's not something you can influence or interact with like The Bonus Drop and therefore most players won't be bothered by it. They'll appreciate the wins if they turn up and that's about it.
More Free Games?
Whilst we'd love for The Bonus Drop to be revamped, dropping it completely and replacing it with The Bonus Vault - whilst possible - seems unlikely. It'd actually make more sense to be part of an increased arsenal of attractions to players as opposed to swapping one in and one out. The fact is that free games are becoming more and more popular incentives used by operators to attract players. Ladbrokes for example not only have Instant Spins but these are joined by Trivia Quizzes, Free Bingo Games and the recent addition of Slot Rivals - their version of Slot Masters that you can play over at Foxy. Of course operators need to be mindful that too much of a free thing isn't always good. There needs to be balance of giving with one hand whilst taking with another. In many respects The Bonus Vault does that because in order to play it you need to wager. However you also need to encourage people to wager and that's where Free Spins and games like The Bonus Drop come into play. We'll have to wait and see how William Hill use their new feature and see what other promotions they have in store to compete with their nearest rivals. Either way 2023 should be a fascinating year for online casinos and for those players who enjoy the occasional freebie.
