What Are Prize Lines From Blueprint Gaming

Published On 26th April 2021

Prize Lines is a brand new mechanic from Blueprint Gaming which is set to enhance a whole suite of slot titles. Each game is a bingo/slots hybrid and involves a 5x5 grid and a series of spins with the aim to complete lines within that grid. If you achieve enough completed lines then you win prizes as listed on the paytable. If you think that the format sounds very familiar then you'd be right because it's pretty much the same as Slingo!

What Are Prize Lines?

Blueprint Gaming have launched a couple of titles in their Prize Lines series already. These include Fishin’ Frenzy Prize Lines and King Kong Cash Prize Lines. The format of both games is pretty much the same but both adopt themes from their respective slot titles. To play a Prize Lines game you simply set your wager (from 10p up to £10 depending on game and site) and select spin. In fact you have five spins and on each spin the 5x5 grid squares will randomly fill with an icon (e.g. a fish for Fishin' Frenzy) or remain blank. The icons remain locked and the process continues until all five spins are used up.

Prize Ladder

During the five base game spins you may get a bonus icon which can result in extra filled squares on the grid. The aim of the game is to complete as many prize lines as possible with the five spins. Each winning line moves you up the paytable but you'll need a minimum of five winning lines to earn a reward. On Fishin Frenzy this is simply your stake back but other prizes can be won including Frenzy Spins for 8, 9, 10 or 12 lines. To help you advance up the prize ladder there's a 'gamble on' feature which is very similar to one in Slingo games. After all your five spins are played you'll be invited to wager extra for another spin. There doesn't seem to be any limits to how many extra spins you play.

Prize Lines v Slingo

Blueprint Gaming are very excited about their new mechanic. They say that it "significantly diversifies our content offering and ensures we can reach a new audience". That new audience we suspect will be more bingo related or those players who already enjoy spinning Slingo titles. The comparison to Slingo is inevitable - they both have 5x5 grids, the aim of each is to accumulate winning lines and both allow you to gamble on. The big differences are that Slingo relies on a numerical grid which gives it a more bingo feel, offers more spins and does allow players to select squares to fill via jokers.

Fishin' Frenzy Prize Lines

We played the Fishin' Frenzy version a few times to get a flavour of the Prize Lines mechanic. Initially it was quite a frustrating experience as we rarely completed three lines - yet you needed five to just get your money back. Like Slingo the premise of the game does feel orientated to encouraging you to wager on. We tried that on a couple of games and it didn't feel like a worthwhile decision as it added nothing to our final position. However we did manage to hit 8 lines and get one spin of Frenzy Spins. This bonus is simply the same as the base game but cash amounts replace the fish. It provided us with a decent win (x33 multiplier) which made up for the previous disappointments.

Our Verdict On Prize Lines

Overall we quite enjoyed the Prize Lines experience although to be fair the big win did help. It does feel quite difficult to get five winning lines in five spins so rewards are limited. But a lot of instant win games are very similar and so is Slingo. Our advice for the latter is forget about wagering on and the same really applies to Prize Lines. It can be tempting to chase the rewards higher up the ladder but be mindful of what it is costing. We expect the Prize Lines stable to increase over the coming months but for now you can enjoy the current games at the likes of Mecca Bingo, Grosvenor Casino, MrQ and Paddy Power.
