Sweet As Candy Prize Lines Review

Sweet As Candy Prize Lines is another new Blueprint Gaming title that has adopted their brand new game mechanic. It follows Fishin Frenzy and King Kong Cash who have also launched this month. Sweet As Candy however isn't as widley available as the former and currently seems to be exclusive to Mecca Bingo and Grosvenor Casino. Prize Lines is a bingo meets slots mechanic with the aim of the game to create as many win lines as possible within the 5x5 grid. These lines help you climb the prize ladder and win bigger prizes. Is Sweet As Candy a treat or does it end up leaving a bad taste in the mouth?

Sweet As Candy Prize Lines

Unlike Fishin Frenzy and King Kong Cash, Sweet As Candy doesn't seem to be a popular slot title within Blueprint Gaming's stable. Therefore we are a little surprised to see it given the Prize Lines treatment. Looking through Google it does seem that this title has been in the pipeline for a few months and we wonder whether it's simply a market tester. Now that Blueprint are happy with the mechanic they've attached it to more well known titles to get the ball rolling. When it first loads you're greeted with an explanation about how the game works and the pay table. The background is very busy and full of candy related images. The other two released games in our view look a lot better.

How To Play Sweet As Candy Prize Lines

Prize Lines games are very easy to play. They are played on a 5x5 grid which initially has blank squares. Wagering starts from just 10p. At the start of the game you are awarded five spins and on each spin squares within the grid may randomly fill with an icon. In this particular game that icon is a sweet. These squares are then locked in and don't change. The aim of the game is to create as many prize lines as possible - so you're looking to fill the grid with lots of crowns. To help you in your quest a detonator symbol may appear on a turn and will fill additional squares. The more lines you create the higher up the pay table you can go.

Gamble On Feature

At the end of the five spins you are usually offered a choice. Take any prize you've won (or end the game if you've not won anything) or you can play an extra spin for an additional wager. This format is exactly the same as in Slingo. There are no limits to how many extra spins you can play but you'll be wagering on each one so just be aware of the cost. If you're lucky enough to reach at least five Prize Lines during your turn then you'll win a prize. On Sweet As Candy Prize Lines prizes start at x1 your wager and increase to x2 and x5 for 6 and 7 lines. For 8 lines or more you'll get to play the Free Spins bonus round.

Sweet As Candy Free Spins Round

The Free Spins bonus round is played on the same 5x5 grid but on each spin the sweets have a cash value. Your prize is the total of the sweets that appear on screen. If you receive more than one spin on the Free Spins then each turn starts with a blank screen. This means that it's possible - although highly unlikely - that you win on all 25 squares. In theory you should win more as you go up the prize ladder. The top prize available is 10 free spins and the largest payout is x50,000 the initial wager (up to a maximum of £250,000).

Sweet As Candy Prize Lines Strategy

There isn't much strategy involved when it comes to Sweet As Candy Prize Lines. Unlike Slingo you as the player are not involved in being able to select squares during spins. In Slingo you can choose strategic squares such as the centre with a joker or super joker. The only real strategy comes with the gamble on feature at the end of the first five spins. We're not convinced it's really that worth it and having tried it a few times just ended up getting no extra squares filled for the cost. Our advice is to be wary of the feature and make a considered choice. It can be easy to chase the bigger prizes but that's not always a good idea.

Our Verdict

Of the three Prize Lines games that are currently available this one is our least favourite. We're not big fans of the theme and the game doesn't look as good as Fishin' Frenzy or King Kong Cash. In reality this is Fishin' Frenzy Prize Lines but with sweets instead of fish. Somehow it seems to work or feel better with a fishy theme. It's perhaps not a surprise that Blueprint have opted to use Fishin' Frenzy to signal the arrival of Prize Lines. We expect that future titles in this particular series will be of a much higher quality.
