Fishin Frenzy Prize Lines Review

Fishin Frenzy Prize Lines is the first in a series of new games launched by Blueprint Gaming. We mentioned this new game format in a recent post but have decided to take a closer look at the inaugral game. Prize Lines is a bingo meets slots mechanic with the aim of the game to create as many win lines as possible within the 5x5 grid. These lines help you climb the prize ladder and win bigger prizes.

Fishin Frenzy Prize Lines

Fishin Frenzy is the perfect title for Blueprint to launch their new Prize Lines game mechanic. The title is very popular on many slots sites and has been used as the basis for spin-off titles using Megaways and Jackpot games. What better way to introduce this slots and bingo hybrid than by catching fish! The Prize Lines game itself is very colourful and when it first loads you're greeted with an explanation about how the game works and the pay table. A fisherman is on the right of the screen although he actually seems to be underwater which doesn't seem a sensible way to fish.

How To Play Fishin Frenzy Prize Lines

Prize Lines games are very easy to play. They are played on a 5x5 grid which initially has blank squares. Wagering starts from just 10p but you can adjust this up to £10 (or more depending on the site). At the start of the game you are awarded five spins and on each spin squares within the grid may randomly fill with an icon. In this particular game that icon is a fish. These squares are then locked in and don't change. The aim of the game is to create as many prize lines as possible - so you're looking to fill the grid with lots of fish. To help you in your quest a fisherman may appear on a turn and will fill additional squares. The more lines you create the higher up the pay table you can go.

Gamble On Feature

At the end of the five spins you are usually offered a choice. Take any prize you've won (or end the game if you've not won anything) or you can play an extra spin for an additional wager. This format is exactly the same as in Slingo. There are no limits to how many extra spins you can play but you'll be wagering on each one so just be aware of the cost. If you're lucky enough to reach at least five Prize Lines during your turn then you'll win a prize. On Fishin Frenzy prizes start at x1 your wager and increase to x2 and x5 for 6 and 7 lines. For 8 lines or more you'll get to play the Frenzy Spins bonus round.

Frenzy Spins Bonus Round

The Frenzy Spins bonus round is played on the same 5x5 grid but on each spin the fish have a cash value. Your prize is the total of the fish that appear on screen. If you receive more than one spin on the Frenzy Spins then each turn starts with a blank screen. This means that it's possible - although highly unlikely - that you win on all 25 squares. In theory you should win more as you go up the prize ladder. The top prize available is 10 frenzy spins and the largest payout is x50,000 the initial wager (up to a maximum of £250,000).

Fishin Frenzy Prize Lines Strategy

There isn't much strategy involved when it comes to Fishin Frenzy Prize Lines. Unlike Slingo you as the player are not involved in being able to select squares during spins. In Slingo you can choose strategic squares such as the centre with a joker or super joker. The only real strategy comes with the gamble on feature at the end of the first five spins. We're not convinced it's really that worth it and having tried it a few times just ended up getting no extra squares filled for the cost. Our advice is to be wary of the feature and make a considered choice. It can be easy to chase the fish and bigger prizes but that's not always a good idea.

Our Verdict

If you've played Slingo and enjoyed it then you'll want to take a look at Prize Lines. It's very similar in concept but there's probably just enough nuances to differentiate between the games. It's very much an instant win style game but slots and bingo players may enjoy a change from their usual options. Our advice is if possible try the game for free in demo mode first. Sites such as Jackpotjoy and Mecca Bingo for example usually have demo versions available. Alternatively give the game a spin by playing at just 10p a turn and see if you like the concept. If it proves popular with players expect to see more titles in the Prize Lines series very soon.
