Slingo Extreme Review

So what do you do with a game like Slingo to keep things fresh? Well Gaming Realms have opted to adopt TV themed versions of the game as well as offer poker, Rainbow Riches and instant win variations. In addition they've made a slight adjustment in game play for Slingo Extreme. According to their own blurb the changes to Extreme "makes our favourite game hotter than ever before"!

Slingo Extreme

At first glance there's not much difference between Slingo Extreme and the original Slingo Riches. As usual the slots meets bingo game is played on a 5x5 grid. The grid contains random numbers (1 to 75) and the object of the game is to cross off the numbers. Numbers are generated each turn by a reel of numbers that appear at the base of the grid. For this particular variation a player has 11 initial turns.

How To Play Slingo Extreme

The aim of any Slingo game is to get a line - horizontal, vertical or diagonal - of five numbers. Each line represents a win therefore the more lines that are achieved the bigger the prize. A full house gives the player 12 Slingos (lines) and the top prize. In Extreme's case that is x500 the initial wager. The maximum prize on offer is £50,000 when wagering £100 a turn.

Wagering on Slingo Extreme starts at just 50p a turn. This can be increased up to a maximum of £25 (Slingo.com). The maximum wager may vary from site to site. There is no Autoplay but Slingo Reveal does allow you to wager on. Basically once your turn has finished - and any free rounds played - you'll be invited to play on for a given price and potential win. We advise against this option as wins are rare!

Extreme Differences

So what is the difference between Slingo Riches and Slingo Extreme? Firstly you can win more on Extreme. The maximum prize is x200 on Riches whilst, as mentioned it's x500 on Extreme. The only other difference is that in Extreme you can win up to 8 free spins during a turn. In Riches the number of free spins is limited to 4. Everything else, such as Jokers, Super Jokers and Instant Cash Prizes remain the same.

Instant Cash Prizes are awarded by the way when you get 3 or more Jokers/Super Jokers on a single spin. The prize award is the same for both versions of the game. Like the full house prize other awards are different. For example for 3 lines you'd receive 50% your stake playing Riches but just 30% on Extreme. Four lines and five lines are the same (x1 and x2 respectively) but at six lines it's x3 versus x4 with Riches offering the bigger prizes for fewer lines.

The Verdict

First off, Slingo Extreme doesn't deviate at all from the original game. There are no extras to get excited about, no gimmicks and sadly no progressives. What you do get is the chance to win big for a full house, but win less - when compared to Riches - should you achieve success with fewer lines. Beyond that, and those extra possible 4 free spins per game, Extreme and Riches are close bed fellows.

One important difference is their respective RTPs. Riches is at 95%, a standard figure for these particular suite of games. However you'll find that Extreme is 92.5%. Extreme does look better, but this is an option for those players who maybe want to take more of a risk. Riches is more medium/high variance whilst Extreme is safely in the high variance category.
