It's been a while since we reviewed Slingo games but that doesn't mean they've stopped releasing new titles. The problem with the format is that is does get a little bit samey which is fine but games need to evolve to stay interesting. Fortunately the developers at Gaming Realms are more than happy to evolve their star game and continually add new twists to the format. One of the latest additions is called Slingo Candy Machine Bl4st. The premise of the game is the same as every other Slingo version but to create those lines Slingo Candy Machine Bl4st includes a gem games style format. But is it a blast or is this candy-coated adventure just a tad too sickly sweet?

Come with me and you'll be in a world of pure imagination is the perfect soundtrack to Slingo Candy Machine Bl4st because the backdrop to this game is pure Willy Wonka. The candy world includes large lollipops and gummy bears in the trees. The overall look is perfect for the theme although the boat on the pink river looks weirdly out of scale. The usual 5x5 Slingo grid is set within the Candy Machine that occupies the centre of the screen. Below the main grid is the line of reels which generates the numbers on each spin. To the right of the screen you'll find the play button alongside options to change your wager, the number of spins that you have left and a button to get information about how to play the game.

Slingo Candy Machine Bl4st is an interesting twist on the Slingo format. The candies blast element when things go well can see a large number of squares become dabbed from just one spin! However that's a rarity and quite often the five assigned spins are not enough to generate one Slingo line let alone four or more. We did wonder whether there was any strategy to Slingo Candy Machine Bl4st by remembering the candies behind numbers that don't end up being dabbed during a play. However the candies vary from turn to turn so that put paid to that idea very quickly. Overall it's a colourful game and enjoyable to play. Gaming Realms have done will to add another twist to the format and it'll be interesting to see the innovations that they come up with next.
