Cheeky Bingo Has Closed

2023 saw a number of bingo brands close their online doors. These included the likes of Fancy, Treasure and Pizazz. We had thought that was it for 2023 but overlooked one closure that occurred during November and that was over at Cheeky Bingo. Unfortunately due to work and personal commitments we weren't "on the bingo ball" during the last couple of months of the year so missed any announcements or emails with respect to it's closure. The Cheeky Bingo site is still active but contains a message saying that "all good things come to an end" and that Cheeky actually closed on the 29th November 2023.
The Rise & Fall Of Cheeky Bingo
Cheeky Bingo launched back in 2009 as a sister brand to Foxy. Cheeky quickly became a "goto" site thanks to it's free bingo for real cash approach. They were one of the first sites to offer real cash prizes in the free bingo rooms. Although perhaps always in the shadow of it's more well known sister site, Cheeky was never neglected by then owners Cashcade. It had it's own advertising campaigns and had different promotions to Foxy. Cheeky started to lose it's attraction when more bingo sites started offering free games, promotions became networked, UKGC rules came into effect and when GVC (now Entain) took over the brand. Moving Cheeky from Dragonfish to the now Entain platform all but killed off the brand as the spotlight was placed firmly on Foxy and Gala. Whilst Cheeky did have it's own free to play daily game (Coin Toss) there was no advertising or promotion from Entain. It's closure therefore wasn't that big a surprise.
What Now For Cheeky Players?
If you're a Cheeky Bingo player and also have a Foxy account then any balance left on your Cheeky account would have been transferred over. Simply login to Foxy and it should be there. If you're a Cheeky player and don't have a Foxy account then it's simply a case of sign-up as a newbie and your account will then be transferred (if we've understood the FAQ correctly). If you want to withdraw any funds that may be left in your Cheeky account then this must be done within 3 months of the Cheeky Bingo closure. Self excluded players will not have a new account created for them on Foxy but any self-exclusion created for Cheeky won't passover to Foxy. At Foxy you'll be able to access all the same bingo rooms and slots plus enjoy promotions such as Wag N Win, The £150K Big Bingo Game and Foxy's Freebies like Pinball.
2024 Consolidation?
The closure of Cheeky Bingo (and indeed many others during 2023) highlights the current direction of online bingo. The days of 100s of different sites with new brands launching weekly are long gone. Unviable sites are closing and operators are putting their focus into their top brands. This does make sense from the operators point of view as managing a few quality brands should be easier than multiple titles all doing the same thing. However from a player perspective it may not be such good news. Naturally it reduces the number of options on where to play but if operators continue their current death spiral - i.e. close brands and then not put any effort in open ones. This results in a decline in the quality of games and promotions which subsequently means less players. Less players means unviable brands and therefore more closures. Hopefully that's not the case as we enter a New Year.
