Lottery Betting At Paddy Power

With football, horse racing and many other sports suspended, the bookies are quite light in the betting market department. However there are still some markets still operating including lotteries. Paddy Power have updated their online lottery betting channel and players now have the chance to bet on the results on selected games.
Paddy Power's new lotteries channel boasts betting and odds for the Irish Lotto, Daily Millions and New York Lotto. To find these markets simply head to Paddy Power and select the 'Lotteries' link that is located at the top of the site. Choose your market and then select the numbers. The way Paddy Power have set this up is quite good. Instead of the usual number panel and 'random' number generator they've flipped it slightly.
Quick Pick Numbers
Quick Pick is the default option. Simply click on the "1 Number", "2 Numbers", "3 Numbers" etc buttons to generate a random number. Underneath each box you'll also see the odds for getting 1, 2, 3 balls correct. For example you can get odds of 130000/1 if you match five numbers on the Irish Lotto. If you prefer to choose your own numbers instead of random ones then you can go to "Pick Numbers". What we like here is that any random options you've selected automatically appear on the ticket. Simply click to add or remove numbers!
Whilst we like the ticket set-up at Paddy Power there are limitations. As far as we can tell you can only select to play in the next two lotteries. At time of writing for example we could purchase bets for the New York Lotto on the 23rd and 26th April. Other bookies do allow purchase of bets for more draws. In terms of responsible gambling this is probably a more sensible move by Paddy Power, but it would be nice to have the option. The number of lottos is also quite limited, however we believe a number of games are suspended so the options may increase in the future.
Irish Lottery Specials
The lack of choice is a slight issue, but Paddy Power have added some Irish Lottery Specials to spice up proceedings. Within this section you can opt to bet on a range of outcomes. For example the number of the first ball, the colour of the first ball, first ball number range and whether the first ball will be odd or even. And if that wasn't enough for you the same markets can be applied to all six drawn balls and the bonus ball. These are also joined by the highest number drawn, lowest number drawn and whether a particular number will be drawn.
The limitations here are that the markets apply only to the Irish Lottery and for the next available game. You can't see markets for future draws. We suspect you may be able to place bets on future games by contacting Paddy Power but the visible slips are only for the next available date. As far as we can tell there's no minimum bet for these markets (some require at least £1) but do keep an eye on Paddy Power's promotions. Occasionally they offer free bets for lotto when wagering on Irish Lottery and Daily Millions - terms will apply.
