Megaways Casino may be a new kid on the block but it is in fact a rebrand of an old favourite. In 2014 StarSpins was launched as a slots only sister site to Jackpotjoy. On a plus point we think the new Megaways Casino site looks a lot better than StarSpins. Although they're pretty similar in terms of design - and the standard Gamesys look - Megaways does look fresher and more inviting in it's purple haze. It doesn't scream Megaways to us though and although there are a few popular games at the top of the site it looks and feels like Virgin Games, Jackpotjoy, Rainbow Riches Casino etc. That's not a bad thing but it doesn't make it stand out from the crowd. One thing we liked about StarSpins was it's Community Jackpots. These eventually were shared with Monopoly Casino but now seem to have been dropped. Nothing seems to have been added in their place but Gamesys' own progressives such as Double Bubble and Secret Of The Phoenix Jackpots have been joined by Jackpot King slots and Daily Drop Jackpots. Although Megaways Casino is mainly about the slots it still does offer casino games. The choice however is still fairly limited with multihand blackjack, blackjack match, european roulette, phoenix roulette, hit-me bacarrat, three chance poker, Hi-Lo and Keno making up the numbers. Live gameshows have become part of the Live Casino set up too and titles in that section include Mega Ball, Monopoly Live, Crazy Time and Soccer Studio. We do wonder whether they'll be a Megaways Live game along the lines of Buffalo Blitz sometime in the future. It's that kind of content that would make Megaways Casino stand out a little more.
Our Verdict
We did like the StarSpins brand and felt that it was a good alternative for fans of Jackpotjoy but who perhaps didn't want the bingo. When Monopoly Casino then launched with the same community jackpots StarSpins lost a lot of it's exclusivity. Replacing it with Megaways Casino seems a little odd to us though as it's really StarSpins minus the community jackpots. In terms of titles it doesn't offer too much that we think is exclusive. It will need more top unique titles to really become the place for players to play Megaways slots.
