Starzle Review
Live Game Shows such as Mega Balls, Monopoly Live and Crazy Time have become increasingly popular on many online slots, bingo and casino brands. In a Live Game Show players wager on a game - usually something that involves spinning a wheel - whilst in the presence of a real life presenter. Players can interact with the presenter and this all helps to provide a more immersive, close to real-life, casino experience. Many of the Live Game Shows that you find on the likes of Ladbrokes, William Hill and Paddy Power are from Evolution Gaming but this provider aren't the only ones offering such games. BetGames have signed on to provde three new games exclusively on the Entain platform. Described as ShowGames, Starzle is the first to go live and we thought we'd take a closer look.
What Is Starzle?
Starzle is descibed as a unique live game show based on a lottery type game. As well as wagering on the outcome of six numbers being drawn from a pool of 48 you also have the opportunity to qualify for a bonus round as well as place side bets on the numbers and ball colours. The game plays in a live studio and involves a typical lottery ball number generator and a guest presenter. The studio is fairly basic and features a couple of screens - a small one to the right that will highlight the bonus number and a bigger one at the back which comes into play during the bonus round. A funky soundtrack plays in the background which to be honest does get annoying incredibly quickly. There's an option to mute the volume but this also mutes the presenter!
How To Play Starzle
To play Starzle you need to login to Ladbrokes Casino and head to the Live Casino area - we couldn't find Starzle located in their Game Show World section but suspect it may be in there somewhere. To start the game you need to place a wager called the Main Bet. You can select between 1 and 48 numbers for your main bet and it costs a minimum of £1 per ball. You can increase the amount per bet in £1 increments. If you want to add extra bets such as whether numbers will be odd or even or the colour mix of the balls then you can head to the side bets option - but you don't get involved with the bonus round if you only do side bets. Be quick making your wagers because you don't get a lot of time to think about it and place them. Thankfully there's a repeat bet option which does come in useful provided you're happy to stick with the same numbers/side bets during each round.
The Main Draw
Starzle differs from a typical lottery game in that you're only aiming to match single numbers. Once the game starts six numbers will be drawn by the game machine. If you match any of the numbers then you win a x5 multipler per number. Before the balls are drawn however a bonus number is randomly chosen and displayed on the smaller screen. If this number matches any of the six drawn numbers then this activates the bonus round. The bonus round comprises a series of ten playing cards made of multipliers, star cards and bust cards. Cards are revealed one at a time and players have the choice, provided a bust card hasn't been turned, to cash out or continue. Players not involved in the bonus round still have the option to bet on the outcome of the cards. Star cards help you generate big multipliers as three in a row is worth x50 whilst five in a row is worth x1000. If a bust card appears and you haven't cash out then you lose any bonus wins but do keep the original win from the main bet.
Our Verdict
If you love live game show lottery style number games over the more traditional spin the wheel games then Starzle is well worth dropping in on. It can be a little confusing at first as you may think that you need to match 3 or more balls to win as in a typical lottery. It can also get a little bit expensive to play if you choose six balls and throw in side bets. If the bonus round comes into play and you then bet on the outcome of that then that's even more wagering! The bonus round is quite interesting and it cropped up a few times when we dropped in on Starzle. Overall it's a fun game but our issue is that it can become quite samey - it's like watching The National Lottery draw multiple times and no matter how good the presenters are it's difficult to make the subject matter that exciting. They do make a good fist of it mind!
