Slingo Lightning Review

Considering Slingo is such a simple game it's amazing just how many variations the developers can squeeze out. The latest off the long production line is Slingo Lightning which really changes things for the slots meets bingo game. Whilst all games to date have used 75 bingo balls, Lightning reduces the number down to 50. This according to Gaming Realms gives players "more chances of making matches and striking numbers off the 55 grid".

Slingo Lightning Streak Review

Slingo Lightning has a stormy theme with dark moody clouds and flashes regularly appearing in the background. Giant black birds, which to be fair would be cooler if they were Pterodactyls, swoop occasionally around the screen. The standard 5x5 grid takes centre stage as you'd expect whilst the paylines table is shown on the left. A large firey globe containing 8 balls is seen on the right and this represents the number of turns that you have. The design is quite impressive and works equally well on mobile.

How To Play Slingo Lightning

The aim of Slingo Lightning is to get lines - horizontal, vertical or diagonal - of five numbers. The more lines you complete the higher the prize you can win. You can win by getting just one line which is very different to other versions but there's a reason for this. The lowest prize is x0.1 your initial wager but this increases to x200 if you complete a full house. Wagering on this version of Slingo starts at 20p. This can be increased up to a maximum of 25. The minimum and maximum wager may vary from site to site.

When you've chosen your wager and start the game the spins are automatic so you don't need to keep hitting the spin button. Each spin generates up to five numbers below the 5x5 grid. If any numbers match then these are marked off. When you complete a row of five numbers then you move up the prize board. If on a spin no numbers match then you lose a life - this can be regained if the next turn matches a number. The process continues until you lose both lives. During game play you may pick up free spins, jokers (wilds) and blocks. The latter prevent you from marking off a number.

The Verdict On Slingo Lightning

As well as only having 50 numbers, Lightning is different in that you only get 8 initial spins. Most other Slingo games will offer 10 or 11. However just like other versions of Slingo you may be invited to spin on after the base game concludes and any free spins used. You can decide to wager the amount shown on screen for an additional spin or end the game. Deciding when to end a game is part of the strategy of Slingo. You need to determine whether it's worth the risk of playing on or whether to take your winnings. Keep an eye on your wager total at all times.

As you'd expect from a game with the word Lightning in it's title this is a fast and furious version of the Slingo game. There are no gimmicks in terms of bonus rounds so it's pure raw Slingo. We actually quite liked playing this version and actually felt that wagering on was worth the effort. In previous Slingo games we've always found that wagering on was akin to a money pit. If you're new to the game our advice is head to Slingo Originals and play a demo version of the game. This will give you an insight into the gameplay.
