Bingo Site Brands - A Trip Down Memory Lane
Published On 7th August 2025
Over the last month or so we've been doing a bit of late spring cleaning to Loquax Bingo in preparation for a server move. Having been running for over 20 years we've accumulated a lot of information about numerous bingo brands both past and present. A lot of this content is no longer live on the site and actually sits in old databases that will soon find themselves heading to the virtual dustbin. Within those databases is content or information about bingo brands that have long since closed down and sadly no longer feature within our closures section. So before are old databases are gone forever we thought we'd go rummaging around and taking a bit of a stroll down memory lane on bingo brands that are long gone.
Astro Bingo - To The Stars
Astro Bingo was one of the first bingo brands that we advertised on Loquax. They launched an affiliate program on Paid On Results and paid revenue share commission. This was quite a big thing back in the day especially on an affiliate network. Astro Bingo operated on the Parlay platform and was notable for offering players a no deposit bonus. Whilst the site was an interesting prospect in the early days it quickly lost ground to the likes of Foxy, Tombola, Sun Bingo and others. A revamp in 2009 didn't help things nor did issues with it's affiliate program. The site gradually started to fade from orbit and eventually closed in 2020.
Way Hey! It's Cheggers Bingo
Long before Bingo All Stars there was Cheggers Bingo! The late Keith Chegwin was a bit of a visionary when it came to the internet and online bingo. He was possibly the first celebrity to have their own bingo brand which operated on the St Minver platform. Keith would interact with players (and affiliates) as well as host live shows. This was in the early days of broadband and well before the likes of Youtube, Facebook, streaming and Live Bingo. We even had a discount code, courtesy of Keith, that game Loquax players a £2 no deposit bonus! Cheggers Bingo ran for seven years and eventually closed in 2013.
Yahoo Bingo Or Google?
1998 was an interesting year for Yahoo. On one hand they were turning down the chance to buy a company Larry Page and Sergei Brin (which eventually would evolve into Google) whilst on the other they were launching Yahoo Games. Part of that games channel included Yahoo Bingo, another St Minver brand. We don't recall much about Yahoo Bingo, which probably means it didn nothing of note, but St Minver did used to pick up a lot of interesting partnerships. They were where Gala Bingo started out plus they had white label sites branded by Virgin, Metro, Butlins, Woolworths, Littlewoods, Teletext and even Ann Summers. With these heavyweights on board the network surely couldn't fail? The platform was sold to IGT in 2015 and within a year they'd opted to close the bingo set-up for good.
Bloke Bingo - It's Not For Girls
Bingo is often pitched as a game for women. There's 888 Ladies Bingo, Lucky Ladies Bingo and if you visit most bingo brands there's usually women featured on the homepage or in any advertising. However occasionally they'd be a digression from the norm. For example Bloke Bingo! This site, which ran from 2008 to 2013, was part of the Better Bingo Network that was powered by Virtue Fusion. Aside from pitching itself at the alpha male bingo player it also rallied against it's pink and fluffy counterparts with a black colour theme. The site also aimed to offer more manly prizes like games consoles. Bloke Bingo was an interesting idea but perhaps lost out by not marketing itself to bingo's biggest market?
Steamy Bingo - Bingo Gets Spicy
For a very brief moment in time bingo got a little bit saucier. Wink Bingo who had been flying high made a weird decision to get into metaphorical bed with The Dream Idols and pitched late night bingo. Thankfully that didn't last long and has been mostly removed from bingo history. However another site popped up to take on the heat and that came in the form of Steamy Bingo. It's strapline was "for girls that don't blush" and featured a hunky cartoon guy in just a towel. Like Bloke Bingo it started life as a Virtue Fusion site but was quickly relaunched as a Dragonfish site. Whilst the owners were probably hoping to create a bingo brand with a bit of spice it barely got lukewarm.
Brasingo - Bingo Goes Dating
Brasingo was a strange addition to the online bingo world in that it combined Brazil with betting, bingo and dating. Why the owners opted for this combo will forever remain a mystery. This was a Dragonfish brand and therefore it's only other plus point was that new players could get £1 of free bingo just for registering. As far as we remember the dating element of the site was simply just a link to a dating site so it wasn't about offering players the chance to interact with other bingo players. Interestingly there was also a site called Bingo Date but that had nothing to do with dating.
Buddha Bingo - Yes! Really!
If evidence was ever needed that online bingo has truly jumped the shark it came in the form of Buddha Bingo. It launched in 2014 on Cozy Games and featured a cartoon lucky buddha. It probably wasn't the wisest choice of branding (although Lucky Buddha Bingo may have been better) however it wasn't the worst. Somewhere in the back of our minds we remember that a bingo brand launched along the lines of Holy Bingo. However we can't find any references to it online but it was very shortlived. Thankfully due to the vast numbers of bingo sites that have now closed operators have a much wider selection of names to choose from.
Prize Bingo - It's One Of Our Own
We can't conclude this trip down memory lane without a mention of our first Dragonfish white label. Our first bingo site was actually in partnership with Jackpotjoy. Anyway one afternoon we had a random phone call offering us the chance to have a bingo brand possibly Loquax Bingo. However we felt that we didn't want to put our brand on something that might not work out so we opted for Prize Bingo. Surprisingly it did actually perform quite well with minimal promotion. Loquax Bingo followed soon after before things flopped a little in the shape of Bingo House. Running these sites was fun but to be fair we had no idea what we were doing and neglected doing things like building a database and cross-selling players. And in case anyone is wondering - yes we have omitted Clucky Bingo from this walk down memory lane. That work of art has it's very own post.
