Mecca Bingo Introduce Legends of Play Campaign

Roll back several years and our news section was full of reviews and updates about the latest online bingo adverts. We had racing OAPs, twerking cactii and dancing dogs and it was all a lot of fun. Fast forward to 2024 and bingo ads are few and far between. Those that do make it to the small screen tend to be quite staid to keep the folks at The UKGC happy. Whilst that's still the premise for anything else that's new it's good to see some fun being brought back into bingo ads thanks to Mecca Bingo. Legends Of Play
Legends Of Play is a new campaign that encompasses everything Mecca Bingo. It's been created by The MISSION Group who's aim is "to increase brand consideration and grow market share in the competitive UK bingo sector" (Shots.net). To do this the agency have gone back in time and have selected famous historical figures to play bingo. These include Henry VIII, Cleopatra, Vikings and Cavemen! For example in a TV advert Henry VIII is seen receiving a very regal looking mobile phone on a silver platter. Naturally Henry wins, everyone cheers, a knight does some unneccesary thrusting and the voiceover says "let the good times roll" before correcting that it's only "heads that roll" and apologising to Anne Boleyn. The voiceover is done by Jessica Knappett who played Lisa in The Inbetweeners Movie.

Putting The Fun Back Into Bingo
Online bingo hasn't been in the best of places for a long time now. Sites have closed, networks compressed, promotions reduced and everything has become a little bit stale. The article on Shots.net suggests that we will see Clopatra, Vikings and Cavemen so it'll be interesting to see how they're used in promoting Mecca Bingo.
