20 Year Old Brand Is Best New Bingo Site 2023

Published On 18th May 2023

Last night (17th May 2023) a bingo portal site's awards ceremony took place in Gibraltar. The awards are chance for the great and the good of online bingo and slots to come together and slap each other on the back for a job well done over the last twelve months. Most of the awards are voted for by players which is fine but that doesn't always mean the best site wins. It simply means that the site that can cajole the most people to vote for them will usually take the trophies. Fortunately there are a handful of awards that are judged by industry experts and these lend a lot more kudos, in our view, to the proceedings. Interestingly Foxy Bingo came out on top as best bingo site whilst Pragmatic Play - surprisingly - did very well across the board.

23 Year Old Best New Bingo Site

Pragmatic Play did so well in fact that a bingo brand that "launched in 2000" according to the review on the awards site (and sorry we're not mentioning them because we're still annoyed by their copying our content antics) won Best New Bingo Site. This is a just a joke! Bet365 Bingo isn't new, they simply changed platforms from Virtue Fusion to Pragmatic Play. It's not like they started from scratch like a genuine new site. Admittedly there aren't exactly many of them around which suggests that the best option would have been to can the category. Bet365's success actually follows on twelve months after Heart Bingo won 'best newcomer' for being "new" (also on Pragmatic Play) despite (a) not being new full stop and (b) not actually launching in that year. Given that there's still a dearth of new bingo sites on the scene, any well established brand changing platform should be a shoe-in for 2024. Still if the competition is there then you might as well take a ticket and see if you're lucky so well done to Bet365 Bingo for grabbing the award.

Pragmatic Play Take Six Awards

As someone who plays on various bingo sites and has followed them for almost 20 years the fact that Pragmatic Play sites did so well is intriguing. How the heck did they walk away with 'Best Bingo Software'? What are we missing? The set-up on any Pragmatic Play site is pretty mundane and the variants on bingo like Bingo Blast (which thankfully didn't win an award) and Diamond Dazzle don't exactly jump out and grab you. And if the platform was so great why aren't Jumpman brands booming with it's presence? On reflection perhaps it's more a case of the competition has perhaps stood still or didn't bother to get involved? Dragonfish has been heading in reverse for several years now and their new owners, Broadway Gaming, only seem to be accelerating things. Virtue Fusion have also been fairly quiet with respect to doing anything bingo wise although we do now have the new Money Drop Game. Gamesys have also been incredibly quiet bingo wise but Entain have made improvements and where the heck are Tombola? Is the Pragmatic Play set-up really better than Tombola? Tombola actually didn't win anything despite - in our view at least - being the most innovative when it comes to bingo games. There's no mentions for Mecca Bingo either which is a massive surprise.

Best Bingo Site

Away from Pragmatic Play, Entain and Foxy Bingo will have been celebrating as they too had a successful time. Foxy Bingo took best bingo site whilst Foxy Games took best slots site. We wonder how much having a bunch of free bingo games running on site during the voting period helped their cause? Anyway this is great news for the Foxy brand which has been slowly trying to re-establish it's former glories when it was the go-to site on Dragonfish. Foxy's success though masks another big brand who surprisingly didn't do that well. Gala did pick up an award for Best Chat Team but lost out to Foxy for "Proprietary Bingo Site" when both use exactly the same platform (which again makes some of the award very confusing). Anyway that's award season done for another year - well done to all who won something. Whilst we take a lot of it with a pinch of salt, if it does encourage other brands like Jackpotjoy, Tombola, Buzz (another with no award), Gala, Mecca etc to up their bingo game for players then that's the real winner. Let's just not see any more stupid new bingo site awards for already established brands.
