Bingocams To Close At The End Of March

Published On 28th February 2023

Sad news reaches us today that Bingocams have decided to close their doors after 12 years online. The site that used it's own proprietory platform and was famous for showing winning moments of players via their webcams has decided to call it a day at the end of March. Details about the closure are currently quite limited, especially with respect to player accounts, withdrawals etc. However the site intends to go out with a bang as they intend to host a £4000 Grand Finale session on it's final day online. Details about this and how to get involved will also be sent out to players in the coming days.

"A Pleasure To Serve You"

The email from Bingocams announcing their decision explains: "It is with a very heavy heart that I must inform you that after 12 years of providing a fun and exciting online bingo experience, Bingocams will be closing its doors on Friday 31st March. We want to take this opportunity to thank all of our dedicated members for your support and loyalty over the years. It has been a pleasure to serve you and provide hours of entertainment. We understand that this news may come as a disappointment to many of you, and we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. We want to give Bingocams the send-off it deserves, which is why we're inviting you to our £4000 grand finale on Friday 31st March! More details will be announced in the coming days, so keep an eye out in your email inbox and on our website". A similar notice has been posted on the Bingocams Community Facebook group.

Why Are Bingocams Closing

Bingocams have explained to their players as to why they have decided to close: "As a company, providing our players with a high-quality, innovative bingo product has always been our priority. Unfortunately as our bingo system gets older, this has proved increasingly difficult, and we have been unable to enhance your bingo experience in a way we would have liked to. You may be aware that we recently launched our sister site, Bingostars. This operates on a different system, which means we can easily provide our players with the most up to date and diverse bingo product possible. From today the registration page will be removed, meaning no new players can create a Bingocams account. There will be no changes to the bingo schedule during this time, so all rooms and games will continue to play as usual". Whilst we're surprised that Bingocams has decided to close their doors we aren't surprised that decisions have been made.

Something Had To Happen

Whilst Tombola and some networked bingo brands are thriving it's also safe to say that online bingo has lost a lot of it's popularity. This can really be seen with proprietary platforms (e.g. MrQ, Bingocams) as their struggle for players isn't masked by networked partners. Jumpman switched to the Pragmatic Play plug-in option whilst Kitty and Lucky Pants relaunched as sister brands to Mecca because their own rooms were pretty much empty - and for quite some time now Bingocams has had the same issue. In fact in 2019, when the site dropped a bunch of chat hosts, we did question what was happening with Bingocams? It's sister brand had moved to Dragonfish and we speculated whether 'Cams would follow. Even back in 2019 they had empty bingo rooms. Empty bingo rooms don't attract bingo players, but if the bingo rooms are empty there's no money to attract interest. This results in a spiral down to inevitable change. So something had to happen but we actually expected Bingocams to implement the Pragmatic Play bingo plug-in system rather completely close down. Pragmatic Play has been adopted by the likes of Peachy Games and Bingo Stars who are sister brands to Bingocams.

Bingo Stars Ahoy

Once the dust has settled and the party poppers cleaned away after Bingocams' £4000 Grand Finale then what happens? Well we expect that the site will redirect to the Bingo Stars brand and that Dazzletag Entertainment will focus on this for bingo and their other brands for slots and casino games. We'll have to wait and see whether Bingocams accounts will be transferred to the likes of Bingo Stars or if they'll simply be closed. One thing that we don't think will re-appear are winning webcam moments. It's a shame especially as Bingocams was "The UK’s first live bingo site dedicated to hosting the biggest and best online live bingo events". Live events are getting more and more popular (e.g. Buzz's Live Bingo) so 'Cams was a frontrunner in this area of bingo. Sadly they just couldn't compete against the likes of Mecca, Gala, Tombola and Foxy. They've been a fabulous and innovative addition to the history of online bingo and it's sad to see them go.
