Reel Bingo - Play 35 Ball Bingo

Published On 19th December 2022

Slots and bingo have become incredibly close relations over the years. It's a rarity to see a bingo brand without slots and slots brands without bingo. Well known slot titles such as Fluffy Favourites and Rainbow Riches have become themes for bingo rooms, whilst opportunities to win spins as 1L, 2L and FH prizes are available on numerous sites such as Heart and Moon. We shouldn't overlook the many versions of Slingo either as this popular game is based on both games. Taking the slots and bingo relationship even further are Tombola who have added yet another game to their roster. Reel Bingo is a clever variant that features iconic slot symbols on the bingo card and a 1 line 3 column fruit machine calling the 'numbers'.

How To Play Reel Bingo

Reel Bingo is a 35 ball bingo that replaces the numbers 1 to 35 with various three line slot patterns that feature plums, melons, cherries, lemons and oranges. The bingo card is made up of 10 numbers or as in this case 10 different patterns of the various symbols. The bingo card comprises two columns of five and these are set nicely in a field or orchard. As you'd expect from Tombola the design is eye catching and unique. It still baffles us why Dragonfish, Playtech and Pragmatic Play just can't come close to this level of design. There are trees surrounding the fenced off ticket and leaves fell from the trees if you touch them. Back to the game. Reel Bingo is a multi-stake game which means you can choose to play 10p, 25p. 50p, £1 or £2 a ticket. No matter your choice of wager you'll still play the same game as other roomies but the prizes on offer will reflect the amount paid. Each player gets one ticket per game.

Bingo Card Numbers

The numbers in Reel Bingo are generated by a three column fruit machine positioned at the top of the screen. If the three symbol combo generated by the machine match those on your bingo card then they're marked off. For example if the symbols are "cherry, cherry, lemon" and there's a "cherry, cherry, lemon" on your card then that's a match. If you have "cherry, cherry, orange" then it isn't. The reels spin to generate further numbers with the aim of creating a column winner (first player to match five patterns in the same column) and a full house (matching all ten). Games are fast and furious - as you'd probably expect from a 35 ball game. Quite often the one column prize is won within 6 or 7 calls whilst the full house seems to drop regularly in 20 calls. Note that there aren't any jackpot prizes for getting 1L or a FH in a select number of calls. However Reel Bingo does have a Bonus Game.

The Bonus Game

If on any spin during game play three Bar symbols appear on the reels then the bonus game is in play. You'll know when it happens because the bingo caller enthusiastically announces that "the bonus game has been activated". The good thing about this bonus round is that all players are involved. At the end of the game the three reel fruitie takes centre stage. The aim of the game is to accrue 10 gold Bar symbols before everyone else. It's purely down to luck as you have no input whatsoever in spinning the reels. The reels will simply spin continuously until one player has won the prize. We played a number of rounds of Reel Bingo and the bonus game only popped up once. However it is well worth it when it comes into play because it comes with a decent jackpot. As far as we understand it starts at £150 and increases progressively until it's won. In many respects we think it's a better way to dish out a jackpot prize as opposed to basing it on number of calls to get a full house.

Our Verdict

At first we were a little disappointed to find Tombola had brought slots and bingo together for a game. It does feel that too many operators are keener to get players to spin the slots than have quality bingo games to play. However we should have known that Tombola do things differently and that they'd come up with a brilliant way to combine slots and bingo. The game, which breathes new life in to the original three column and one line fruit machine, is beautifully designed and very colourful. Reel Bingo is fun to play too and we do love The Bonus Game feature simply because it gives every player another chance to win. Unfortunately the downside with Reel Bingo - which applies to every Tombola game - is that it's very popular and whilst that means big prizes it does also mean it's harder to win.
