New Stadium Room Opens At Coral Bingo
Published On 16th March 2022
Bingo sites are always looking to improve on their player offering by introducing new rooms and/or variations. Paddy Power for example recently renamed their bingo rooms to give things a revamp whilst Tombola are the masters of introducing fabulous new games. Coral Bingo have opted to add a new room to their roster - it's called The Stadium Room and it is described as "where bingo meets sport". The room which we believe is exclusive to Coral will offer live chat, big prizes and more.
The Stadium Room
There isn't much in the way of details about The Stadium Room which is frustrating as we'd like to know what plans Coral have for this particular room. What we do know is that it is a standard 90 ball room that offers games throughout the day with tickets costing anything from 10p to 50p. It's early days for the room but player numbers and chat are limited. The big question is will Coral's new Stadium Room really become a destination for "where bingo meets sport"? If they can create such a destination then that could potentially be quite exciting but we think that it's going to be a tough task.
Where Bingo Meets Sport
Sportsbook and bingo aren't exactly unusual partners as pretty much every bookmaker operates a bingo channel. However whilst these gambling products co-exist they rarely ever crossover. William Hill's Day At The Races Bingo is probably the only bingo meets sport game that comes to mind. Gala Bingo did briefly flirt with low odds novelty betting in the shape of their Flutter channel but that was very short lived. This suggests to us that bingo and sports tend not to meet up because the demand isn't there from players. Bingo does tend to appeal more to a female audience who perhaps aren't keen on chatting about football and racing. In fact whenever there's a big sporting event, such as The World Cup, many bingo brands like to feature "football widow" games rather than "play bingo and talk about the football" ones.
No Links To Sports
What is very noticeable about The Stadium Room is that it has no links to anything sports related. Other than it's name you'd probably not know this is "where bingo meets sport". This seems to be a little short sighted by Coral especially as there's plenty that they could do. At time of writing Coral is running a series of promotions to celebrate Cheltenham - none of these are included in the room. For example the free to play Cheltenham Super Series game could have been highlighted where the mini games get listed. Similarly the Football Super Series game could get a mention as could any of the offers open to sportsbook players. It'd probably also help if Coral highlighted the room on their Sportsbook page, but there's no mention of it anywhere. However Coral could make this room work if they don't leave it as just another bingo room? To make it really work we think they'll need to do something unique to make the room an attractive destination for players.
Sports Chat Sessions
For example they could run regular celebrity chat sessions with sportstars that may appeal to the female bingo audience - although the guys may still like to drop in too. We've already seen how good at commentary and punditry the likes of Alex Scott, Chemmy Alcott and Aimee Fuller are versus their male counterparts - so perhaps chats with them (or similar) could be used to attract visitors to the site? Additionally Coral could use the room to offer sports tickets as prizes. Could the chance of winning tickets to the likes of The Grand National, Cheltenham, Cup Finals, Wimbledon etc be tempting for non-bingo players to investigate a bingo room? Similarly they could offer bet bonuses or have themed games (e.g. Cheltenham Festival Bingo). Whether this will happen remains to be seen - we just hope The Stadium ends up more Wembley than a boggy Sunday League ground.
