Gala Bingo Have World Record Balls

It's congratulations to Gala Bingo who have entered the Guinness Book Of World Records this week. The bingo giants took to the cobbles of Coronation Street on the 18th July for a special game to help promote the Male Cancer Awareness Campaign. The reward was the world record for the largest set of bingo balls.

According to the official press release from Gala Bingo: "the world's largest set of bingo balls were ejected from the house windows onto Coronation Street as This Morning’s Alison Hammond called the numbers until the house was called!"

"For several weeks preceding the event, players at Gala Bingo had been able to compete for tickets to be part of this wacky event. Their efforts raised well over £10,000 for the Male Cancer Awareness Charity. And with the official title for the largest set of bingo balls safely in the bag, with much pomp and ceremony, a huge novelty cheque was presented to model and MCAC ambassador, Rhian Sugden".

"Ecstatic fans of the show were able to tour the iconic former set and they even got to meet past cast legends Shobna Gulati (Sunita Alahan), Sherrie Hewson (Maureen Webster), Steven Arnold (Ashley Peacock) and Adam Rickitt (Nick Tilsley). A great event for an even greater cause!". For some fantastic images of the event head on over to Gala Bingo - we're hoping that they'll release a highlights video too.

As well as promoting MCAC and helping to raise funds for the worthy charity, Gala Bingo used the event to promote the release of a brand new game for their Coronation Street themed section: Corrie Bouncy Balls. We think the game is along the lines of Bejeweled - we'll take a closer look another day and give a review.

We'd now like to see another bingo brand take on the challenge to beat Gala's World Record. We think 90 Zorbing balls with numbers on should do the trick!!
