Why Do Bingo Sites Change Platform?
One minute your favourite brand is running smoothly on one platform and the next they've upped sticks and changed all the rooms. It seems a strange thing to do but it happens quite a lot in online bingo. Sometimes the move makes sense, other times less so. For example Gala and Foxy both moved from Virtue Fusion and Dragonfish respectively to end up on Entain. However both brands are owned by Entain (or GVC as it was then known) so it makes sense for them financially to have their own brands running on their own platform. In the cases of Bet365 Bingo and Heart Bingo who left Virtue Fusion and Bally's respectively we can only assume it came down to contracts or income. It could also be about flexibility and exclusives too. For other brands moving platform simply comes down to not having a choice. Chit Chat Bingo for example recently moved from Dragonfish to Pragmatic Play simply because it was a case of move or close.
Does Moving Platform Work?
Many big brands such as Heart, The Sun, Foxy, Gala, Bet365, Ladbrokes, Coral have moved platforms and managed to end up OK. It's not always plain sailing because no one ever likes change. Other sites are perhaps less successful but this can sometimes be down to the brand doing nothing to attract players despite being in a new home. For example Mirror Bingo moved from Virtue Fusion to Jumpman and whilst it probably ticks along for the owners the brand is forever in the shadows of it's Fleet Street rival at Sun Bingo. However if you compare the brands closely one is very active in promo terms whilst the other isn't. Some brands don't change platform but do change owner. Sites are usually sold because they're not performing well, but if the new owner carries on doing the same as the previous one (i.e. nothing) then it's perhaps not a surprise the results are the same.
