Whilst Dragonfish headlined their top slot, sites like Gala, Mecca and William Hill Bingo featured Big Top Tombola. Big Top Tombola is a 5 reel 20 payline slot. The reels are set on a colourful background of red curtains, presumably to a Big Top. The images on the slot are stylish - even given that the slot is over 10 years old. However they do depict the circus of old with performing elephants and tigers jumping through fire hoops. A strong man, clown and ringmaster are joined by A, K and Q as well as a big top tombola symbol.
Progressive Jackpot
The progressive jackpot is won when five big top symbols appear on a win line. Get five ringmasters and it's x5000 whilst five clowns will see you collect x1250 your stake per line. Wagering starts at 1p but can be increased to £100 by adjusting pay lines and stake. An autoplay option allows you to spin 5 to 100 lines plus stop based on wins or losses. Note that the progressive jackpot varies based on stake.
When we first reviewed Big Top Tombola you had to play a minimum of £2 per line to play for the full progressive. Now you need to wager £5 per line in order to have a chance of winning the maximum jackpot (currently around £110,000). Wager just 1p a line and that progressive comes down to a less life changing £220.
Golden Ticket Bonus
As well as the progressive, Big Top Tombola also has a bonus feature which activates when you get a Golden Ticket on the first reel. When this Golden Ticket appears you get the chance to stop the Tombola and The Ringmaster will choose a raffle ticket. This basically gets you a multiplier for any win lines.
Disappointingly there are no free game bonus rounds. At a 90% Return To Player (low variant) you're also not going to see many small wins. Compared to more modern slots such as those using Megaways players may find Big Top Tombola a little bit dated. However it is designed for mobile, tablet and desktop and still features in the roster of Virtue Fusion brands.
The Verdict
Big Top Tombola is a quite a fun slot game. It has the feel of a pub slot game and that's quite nice. The accompanying circus sounds of the drum roll and clown horn add to the fun. The progressive jackpot is a decent attraction but players may feel a bit disappointed when they realise that the £100K is only attainable by wagering £5 to £100 a spin.
