Former Dragonfish Site Closures Continue

With the recent news of further Tau Gaming owned former Dragonfish brands closing down we thought that perhaps we'd better check in on other lesser well known sites also on the platform. It turns out that we've not been Mr Current Affairs though because there's been quite a lot of closures. In fact well over 15 different Dragonfish brands have been added to the ever expanding bingo junk yard. Visitors trying to find these brands instead now find themselves being redirected to either Wink, 888 Ladies or Costa. As far as we know these sites have all gone over the last few months.
Bye Bye Bingo
The list of closures include Daisy Bingo, Bingo Ballroom, Celeb Bingo, Snowy Bingo, T-Rex Bingo, BBQ Bingo, Spy Bingo, Jingle Bingo, Bingo Hearts and Easter Bingo. These were part of the stable of sites purchased from 888 by Broadway Gaming as part of the Dragonfish deal. In fairness it's not a surprise that any of them have closed simply because they were all pretty poor. The only real plus point with these brands was that players could register and get the welcome bonus by depositing just £5 instead of the traditional tenner. Most of these sites popped up at a time when bingo operators tried to piggyback on current trends. T-Rex Bingo launched around the time of Jurassic World whilst Spy Bingo's arrival coincided with Daniel Craig's first outing as James Bond in Casino Royale. Easter, Snowy, Scary and Jingle all had a seasonal flavour that absolutely no one cared about at Easter, Halloween, Christmas or indeed any other time of the year.
Crocodile Tears
Also heading to new owners when Broadway Gaming acquired 888 was the Intertain Group also known as Costa Bingo's sister sites. This stable of sites included a whole host of well known brands including City, Fancy and Sing. However it also went through a phase of launching new brands every other month and quickly grew by adding the likes of Treasure, Monkey and Rio. Some of these sites are still operational but the following have closed their doors: Giant Bingo, Crocodile Bingo, Angry Bingo, Sparkly Bingo, Rewind Bingo and Kingdom Of Bingo. When they launched each of these sites looked pretty good and had a dedicated theme but over time they were neglected and lost their way. A brief forway into the world of no wagering terms probably didn't help their cause nor did being bounced from owner to owner. In their hey day these were good brands that offered exciting bingo to their players and it's sad to see them go.
Less Choice! Better Bingo?
The closure of the above plus the recent Tau Gaming closures don't surprise us at all. Firstly bingo sites need to be viable and if they're not then they get closed. It's hard to see how any of the above have been viable in recent years. Secondly operators are realising that it's easier to focus on a handful of quality brands rather than flood the market with the same old same old. Entain for example have done this with Foxy, Gala etc whilst Bally's have Jackpotjoy, Double Bubble and others. Broadway Gaming seemed to have selected Costa, Wink and 888 Ladies as their focus sites for Dragonfish. With that in mind everyone else - except for those in other groups like Moon Bingo and co - is on very thin ice. Posh, City, Treasure, Frozen, Monkey and Wish must all be on borrowed time. What this means is less choice for players and not necessarily better bingo. Removing poor performing brands is one thing, but not working on creating a good environment on the brands you're keeping is another.
