Dabbers Seek Top Bingo Caller Of The Year

Whilst online bingo has become a little bit stunted in recent times, the offline game has become increasingly popular. This is down to events such as Bongo's Bingo, Bingo Lingo and Bingo Loco. These events bring together a mix of traditional bingo, dancing, audience interaction and much more. We know quite a few people who have attended these events and they've absolutely loved them, although we suspect that a table load of cocktails might have assisted things. Another popular bingo event can be found down in London and it's called Dabber's Social Bingo.
Dabbers Next Top Bingo Caller
Dabbers is known as London's best loved alternative Bingo Hall. It offers "a variety of showstopping bingo events and hilarious hosts with a comedy, performance and drag background". They host events at two locations close to Whitechapel and Hackney. So why the interest? Well they're currently hosting a competition to find Dabbers Next Top Bingo Caller. This will be the third time they've hosted this kind of competition and no doubt it'll be bigger and better than before. Last year’s winner was Crudi Dench (Matt Stallworthy, comedian and drag performer). She explained that "Winning Dabbers Next Top Bingo Caller has allowed me to explore a whole new passion of bingo calling, put my hosting skills to the ultimate test, interact with brilliant audiences, connect with other fabulous performers and £1000 towards my wig budget".
How To Enter
If you think you have what it takes to be the next top bingo caller then you need to enter the competition before the 17th March 2023. To complete the entry you need to give Dabbers your details alongside details of your act and a link to a showreel. The competition is open to professionals and amateurs alike so don't worry if you're not a known act. Additionally the video doesn't have to be polished, but it needs to show Dabbers what you can do. The key is to demonstrate your bingo calling abilities and personality as best you can. Although it's not specifically highlighted in the competition details you may need to be able to get into London. Once applications are closed there will be series of knockout rounds, a semi final and a final where the winner will be chosen.
The Top Prize
Each of the four heats will comprise of five entrants, with two from each going through to the semi final. Only the top two from each semi-final will have the chance to take the title in the final. Each heat will be hosted by BBC New Comedy Award finalist Sikisa Bostwick alongside a judging panel made up of agents, festival bookers and journalists. Even if you don't win the top caller prize this could open doors to other opportunities. The successor to Crudi Dench's crown will win a £1000 cash prize, a 12 month performer contract and a luxury hotel stay. Tickets are on sale for the Top Bingo Caller events and prices start from £10 and go up to £14 for the final. Each ticket includes a Malibu punch cocktail as well as entertainment, bingo card and dabber.
