Snow may well be falling all around and children are out having fun, but in the online bingo world it doesn't quite seem to be the season to be jolly. We often reflect on a golden era of the online game where every major brand, and quite a lot of minor ones, had huge festive offerings in the shape of prizes and promotions. This year we are close to tears because there's not a lot to get overly excited about. In fact we couldn't be less thrilled if LadBaby announced a Christmas Number One collaboration with Martin Lewis based on Do They Know It's Christmas - oh! Thankfully it's not all quite bah and humbug and there is some festive cheer around albeit not quite on the scale of previous times. Standby to discover a festival of Christmas Bingo.
A Festival Of Christmas Bingo
The Ghost of Christmas past would tell you that Wink Bingo and it's sister sites used to have some huge jackpots at this time of year. If we remember rightly just 12 months ago we were telling you about Christmas Bingo Jackpots including a £7000 game taking place on Christmas Day. Go further back to 2018 and a £5000 Christmas Pudding game played at 888 Ladies as well as Wink etc. However this group changed hands during 2022 and is now owned by Broadway Gaming. Fast forward to the Ghost Of Christmas Present and as far as we can tell there's not going to be a big money game on the 25th December. Instead there's a £20,000 Festival of Bingo running until the 23rd December 2022. This promotion runs in two parts - one that is free and another which requires you to purchase. Each day at 3pm, 5p, and 7pm you have the chance to win free tickets by playing in a 90 ball game in the Christmas Topping Room. Login and claim up to six free tickets before each session. There's five free bingo tickets for 1L, ten for 2L and fifteen for the full house. These tickets can then be used in the second part of the promo - the Christmas Cash Bonanza Room which opens at 9pm.
Christmas Cash Bonanza Room
Every day until the 23rd December the Christmas Cash Bonanza Room will host a jackpot game with increasing cash prizes. There's only one game per day and there's currently a jackpot available of £100. In total there's £20,000 up for grabs but it's unclear how this is distributed in terms of 1L, 2L and FH. If you miss out on freebies then you can buy-in and purchase tickets for this game at 20p per ticket. Under 888, Dragonfish promotions were never the best in terms of details, but under Broadway Gaming they're lacking even more (which is perhaps understandable because the same team that ran Dragonfish moved to Broadway). In order to play the free games you will need to be a depositor and to access the Christmas Cash Bonanza Room you'll need to have at least 19p in your cash funds. What this therefore means is that you can - in theory - should you be a depositor with now zero funds - play in the Christmas Topping Room, win tickets, but then not be able to access the Cash Bonanza Room to see the game. It does seem a strange restriction to invoke. We think it'd be better to allow people to look in on a room, check out the game information, prizes and chat etc before they have to deposit to see what's going on. Obviously Broadway think differently!
Christmas Bingo Everywhere
A £20,000 Festival Of Christmas Bingo should surely be enough to boost the xmas atmos? Well yes and no! Whilst this promotion is decent enough it's worth highlighting a big difference between 2021 and 2022. Last year (and also in previous years) Wink and it's sister sites like Posh and 888 Ladies hosted their own festive jackpots with as we've already mentioned a decent Christmas Day game. Similar things happened on the likes of Costa too. This year this Festival of Christmas Bingo is not only shared by Wink's network, but the Costa group, Real Money Network etc. In fact it's shared by every former Dragonfish (now Broadway Gaming) brand thereby diluting it's impact down considerably. If the aim of Broadway is - as we suspect - to build on selected brands such as Wink then giving every Daisy Bingo, Bubble Bonus, Queen Bee, Cracker, Chit Chat and Bingozino site the same games seems a strange way to go about it. But then perhaps this network is desperate for players and needs to just get the numbers in? In fact the number of players in these festive games could reflect on how well things are going so far for the new owners. At time of writing less than 300 players were in for the 7pm free game whilst just 49 were signed up to the Christmas Cash Bonanza Room. Across a whole spectrum of former 'A' listers like Costa, 888 Ladies and Sing that doesn't seem to be such a great endorsement or sign of interest.
