Is The Daily Record Bingo Welcome Bonus Amazing?

Published On 2nd March 2022

Daily Record Bingo relaunched on Jumpman just over a year ago and to date hasn't exactly been newsworthy. Like it's sister brands of Mirror Bingo and New Spins it did offer new players a no deposit bonus of 20 spins on a selected slot but that has now come to an end. Instead, Daily Record Bingo is apparently the first brand within the Reach Gaming stable to start offering players a welcome bonus. We guess they forgot that OK Bingo already do so? Anyway according to the new banner splashed across Daily Record Bingo you can "spin to win up to £6000 welcome bonus". Wow! But is this offer really worth taking up?

Win Up To £6000 Welcome Bonus

To qualify for the bonus you need to register, login and deposit at Daily Record Bingo. You must make a minimum deposit of £10 in order to spin the bonus wheel. A spin of the wheel could win you up to x10 your deposit amount (£2000 max bonus) so the maximum deposit is £200. But hold on the site says that you can win up to £6000? Well you can provided you deposit £200 on your second and third deposits and your spin of the wheel yields a x10 result both times. In other words you need to deposit £600 and then hit the maximum bonus amount on each spin of the wheel. More likely is that most new players will deposit £10 and get a x1, x2 or x3 bonus. We should also point out that it's possible to get a "no win" when you spin the bonus wheel. So the "win up to £6000" actually means "win between £0 and £6000 depending on the amount of your first three deposits - £10 to £200 - and the outcome of spins of the bonus wheel".

Wagering Terms

Jumpman don't have the most attractive of wagering terms with all their sites dumping a x65 term on players regardless of whether it's wins from spins or a bonus. Any bonus you collect from Daily Record Bingo will also attract a x65 term but we think we've spotted a slight change in direction from Jumpman, and it's not good news for players. Takeaway Slots for example give players the chance to win a 1000% Bonus. Within their terms it states that for a £10 bonus win "the wagering requirement is calculated as £10 x 65 = £650". However at Daily Record Bingo the terms indicate that if you "win £10 bonus from free spins from a £20 deposit, the wagering requirement is calculated as £10 x 65 + £20 x 65 = £1,300". Not only is the maths completely wrong (it's £1950) eagle eyed observers will note that players are now having to take their deposit and bonus into account with respect to wagering terms. If all that wasn't bad enough we're not even sure if any of these Daily Record Bingo bonuses can actually be used to play bingo! Oh and if you do deposit £200 and win a £2000 bonus on the wagering terms come out at "£200 x 65 + £2000 x 65 = £143,000"!

A Backwards Step

According to Jumpman who let us know about the bonus change this is an "amazing offer". Unfortunately we don't share their sentiment and believe that it's a backward step with respect to advertising welcome offers, the size of offers and transparency. Firstly "win up to £6000" is misleading because it's not clearly indicated that a player is required to deposit 3 x £200 and achieve the maximum win on the spinning wheel. Secondly the x65 wagering requirement is indicated in key terms but it's not clear that this includes deposit and bonus. Thirdly it's not clear whether this offer can be used on bingo - we suspect that it isn't - and if a player is seeking out a nice big bingo bonus they may well be misled. However the biggest issue comes under the safer gambling umbrella. The UKGC we know are keen to make online gambling safer for players and a recent survey indicated that whilst 61% of gamblers aren't influenced by bonuses, 31% of gamblers are and these promotions encourage them to gamble more. Our view is an offer suggesting a new player can win a £6000 bonus may influence players to overlook the small print.

Consider Bingo Alternatives

Wagering terms with deposit plus bonus aren't unusual - for example Moon Bingo have it at x4 for their bingo bonus. High wagering terms also aren't unusual and you'll find up to x85 in places including Moon. If you're into slots then you may well find good reasons to choose Daily Record Bingo and see some attraction in the welcome bonus but if you're a bingo player we strongly suggest finding alternatives. Jumpman integrated the Pragmatic Play bingo product into their platform but those bingo rooms can be found on other sites. For example Heart Bingo and PlayOJO Bingo both offer access to the standard network rooms plus they have their own exclusives. They also have no wagering terms on bonuses and offer bingo bonuses too. In conclusion the new welcome bonus from Daily Record Bingo just doesn't make sense to us. It's not attractive to bingo players, misleading in it's terms, adds more wagering term penalties and isn't competitive when compared with other brands. In short we're not impressed and don't think you will be either.
