Whilst many online bookmakers were adding free play games to their sites William Hill went in the opposite direction. Their Pick 7 game was dropped, although it's now in the hands of ITV/Skybet. Since then they've had free play games for casino and slots players but just Scratch Of The Day for sportsbook. That's now changed with the launch of a new football prediction game called Free Or 4.
Unlike other football prediction games that require you to pick results or first goalscorers Free Or 4 is a little bit different. To play all you have to do is pick 6 matches from the available selection where you think there will be either 3 or 4 goals scored. The selection covers a number of divisions, not just The Premier League which gives you more options. You can either study form to choose the six games that might help you win or you could just put your chances of winning in the hands of a Lucky Dip.
Match Six Results
You can edit and change your selections up to kick off of the first matches on the selection list. To win with Free Or 4 your selected matches must end 3-0, 2-1, 1-2, 0-3, 2-2, 3-1, 4-0, 0-4 or 1-3. Only goals scored within 90 minutes (plus injury time) will count. Goals scored in extra time or penalty shoot-outs will not apply. If more than four goals or less than three goals are scored in a game then that result will not count. The aim of the game is to match all six results in order to win the main prize.
If you get six results correct then you can win a £200 free bet. This will be paid in 8 x £25 bets. However there are prizes of £1 and £5 in free bets for players who get four and five results correct respectively. Note that there is a maximum of £1million in free bets available to be won each week. It's worth checking the terms and conditions to understand how the top prize may be reduced depending on the number of winners that are created during a given week.
The Odds Of Winning
The odds of getting six results correct is quite tough in itself, so the odds on picking six games with 3 or 4 goals from a selection must a lot tougher. We suspect a lot of players may well pick up £1 free bets but few will hit the top prize. But how many 3 and 4 goal games can you expect? Well we looked at the last couple of weeks of Saturday football action and discovered that during September 11 of the 29 Premier League games ended with 3 or 4 goals but in The Championship this dropped to 6 out of 45.
Our advice for Free Or 4 is to use the Lucky Dip option and then either submit and hope for the best or check the form of the teams that have been selected and maybe make a reselection if you're not happy with one or two. It'll be interesting to see how William Hill players react to the new free to play game. Will it create plenty of happy winners or will interest drop after a few rounds?
