And It Is Goodbye Ruby Bingo

The start of a New Year is generally a quiet month for new sites but news sadly reaches us of an impending closure. Ruby Bingo, a sister site to William Hill Bingo, will be decommissioned as of the end of January. There's no obvious closure notice on the site, but under promotions it's been announced that "Ruby is ready for her holiday!"

If you have bingo funds at Ruby Bingo then you should take out any cash funds before the end of January. Bonus funds will not be paid out and pending balances will be lost if the wagering requirements are not met. At the start of February the site will close however players can still get cash funds by calling a free phone number (see below).

It's sad to see another brand close it's doors, but it's perhaps not a surprise. Ruby has always played second fiddle to William Hill Bingo, which always has the better promotions. As both have the same games on the same platform there's little to attract players to the Ruby brand ahead of it's more well known sister site. For a while Ruby did offer a no deposit bonus but that was withdrawn and perhaps from thereon the writing has been on the wall.

With Ruby about to head out on vacation, that should mean there will now be more focus on William Hill Bingo itself. Hopefully that will mean more promotions and exclusives - although it could also go the other way. The bingo market is getting tougher and brands are looking to make savings whilst maximising game play. Let's hope that William Hill still see bingo as a major part of their online gaming strategy.

For whatever reason the multiple brand strategy doesn't seem to work as well for Virtue Fusion sites. Gala struggled to launch Minxy into the world - although that was some years ago, whilst Betfred's sister site of Bucky in our view can't quite get a head of steam. However on Dragonfish for example, the likes of Costa and Wink seem happy to employ the multi-site approach to try and get market share.

For information - if you missed the closure deadline then the Ruby Bingo contact number is 0800 111 4451. It's available 24/7 but do make sure you have a note of your account details to hand.
