Early Twitter Reaction To The Dancing Cactus
Published On 5th September 2014 - This Content May Have Expired.
When Costa Bingo launched their TV campaign featuring Mel B social media was full of comments about the advert. Not all the comments were good but the ad had done it's job in creating interest. Fast forward to September and we wondered how the folk of Twitter would be reacting to the latest advert from Mecca Bingo.
Mecca Bingo's new campaign features Dr Paula Legg who tells us we love dancing cactus. We're then treated to a bit of a turn from what some have called The Twerking Cactus. Surely there must be some interesting comments out there about this...
Well sadly not. For some reason the @Twerking_Cactus account has been closed - which is pretty disappointing as we were hoping to hear more from them online. Anyway here are some of the comments across Twitter about the dancing cactus.
Did I really just see an advert with a man dressed as a cactus, twerking? wtf

Yes you did CharletteX, yes you did!
Have creative agencies finally run out of ideas for bingo ads? #twerkingcactus
— Fintan Costello (@FintanCostello) September 3, 2014
Quite possibly Fintan! We've had dancing dogs, racing grannies and even a bell orchestra. The dancing cactus was probably the only unexplored avenue.
The advertising company that produced @MeccaBingo advert with the dancing cactus needs to take a good look at themselves
— Josh COOKIE Williams (@joshyeh) September 3, 2014
Josh doesn't seem too impressed does he?
Not too xenophobic @MeccaBingo you advert with the dancing cactus #offensive
— Mathew Weeks (@danger2bananas) September 3, 2014
Mathew isn't too keen for other reasons.
Just seen the dancing cactus advert for mecca bingo, I am now aching with laughing #shakethatbooty ;)

At least Sarah likes it! Sadly for now that's about it with regards Twitter commentary and overall that's not so impressive. Perhaps things will pick up once the advert gets a few more viewings?
