Even Stevens Bingo Launches On Dragonfish

Whilst the likes of Virtue Fusion, Pragmatic Play, Elektra Works and Tombola have been innovative with their bingo products, it's safe to say that Dragonfish have lagged behind their rivals. Hopefully things are starting to turn around for the platform though. In recent months we've seen a number of brands adopt the new look lobby which makes locating bingo rooms and slots a lot easier. And today a new game, Even Stevens, has been launched on both the Real Money Network and Dragonfish Network.
Even Stevens is a 90 ball bingo game. As you might guess from the name the aim of Even Stevens is to level the playing field for players in the room. This is approach is similar to that adopted by Tombola and BOB at Mecca Bingo. In most bingo rooms players can purchase 1 to 96 tickets. The player who purchases 96 tickets has a better chance of winning versus a player holding just one. Even Stevens levels the playing field by forcing all participants to purchase the same number of tickets.
How To Play Even Stevens
You play Even Stevens Bingo exactly the same as any other 90 ball game. The aim is to be the first player to reach one line, two lines or a full house. The only difference between Even Stevens and say Blighty 90 or Chatterbox is that you must purchase a fixed number of tickets to play. Although tickets for the game cost just 5p each you do have to purchase a minimum of 24. Therefore any game will set you back £1.20! Games run from 4pm until 11pm daily.
As well as the standard bingo game prizes, Even Stevens also has it's own progressive jackpot. This is won when full house is called in 39 calls or less. This jackpot is currently just over £200 and we suspect that it is seeded at £200. Obviously as this is a new game the pot hasn't had time to grow. It'll be interesting to see how big the progressive gets especially as the game is shared across a large number of brands.
Our Verdict
When we first heard that Dragonfish were going to add a new game we were quite excited. The concept of Even Stevens isn't exactly unique but it's something new from a platform that's not kept up with it's competitors. However for some reason Dragonfish have set the minimum ticket purchase to 24 and therefore are forcing players to spend £1.20 per game. In our view this is just too expensive and isn't going to attract players away from the other rooms or games.
We don't understand why they haven't opted for the Tombola and Virtue Fusion approach of a selection of ticket prices (5p to 40p) that gets the player 5 or 10 tickets for a game. Any prizes won are based on the price paid. With Mecca's Better Odds Bingo the players are required to purchase 10 tickets at 5p therefore one game costs 50p. The high price of Even Stevens in our view is not going to appeal to players. We like the idea of the game but the execution falls wide of the mark.
